Honestly what would be more productive is starting a GoFundMe to generate enough for a donation to name something after Schiano within the Football complex/offices.

Or even better, Michigan has their coaching positions named after donors, so what wouldn't be more satisfying than the Greg Schiano Head Football Coach position.

Imagine his office tomorrow:

Admin assistant; good morning mr Hobbs...how was your weekend?

Hobbs; had better...

Admin assistant; well anyways, you have 7560 emails and the voice mail filled up...please don’t make me screen them!

Hobbs; any thing else?

Admin assistant; oh yes, president Barchi would like to see you in his office...ASAP

Hobbs; f***!

You are making a lot of assumptions here:

1. He has an admin that can read emails.
2. He has an admin.
3. The office knows what emails are.
4. They have a computer.
5. Etc.

Yep, just got the email on 900. If this thing gets to a few thousand, people will notice.
If Hobbs, with respect to Schiano, acted in line with what Barchi and the majority of the BOG wanted, then this petition won't matter (and blaming Hobbs would be factually and ethically wrong). Hard to see RU being pressured into firing Hobbs if Hobbs was just doing RU's bidding all along.

OTOH, if Hobbs acted against Barchi or the majority of the BOG, then he'd be in trouble and would likely be fired regardless of this petition. Because he'd have failed to do RU's bidding.

I find it very hard to believe Hobbs acted against the desires of either Barchi or the majority of the BOG. I mean, why would he do that? It'd be career suicide.

I guess there's a third possibility. Perhaps Barchi and the BOG gave no direction at all and told Hobbs to do what he felt was best for the university as well as the football program. In that case, then blaming Hobbs makes sense. But really, how likely is it that Hobbs made unilateral decisions about all this?

That makes this petition almost certainly mostly pointless. I say mostly because it will put even more pressure on Hobbs to find a good, qualified head coach (i.e. not the Campaniles, more like Jones or another experienced and winning head coach).

No source inside athletics but this is my guess. Maybe I am assuming too much... But if Schiano wanted $4m per year for 8 years, Hobbs could have do it. Hobbs didn't even present this to the BOG if reports are correct. He is a clown. He needs to go.

I do think you're assuming too much. You want to fire someone due to what you're admitting are just assumptions. Would you want to be fired because of incorrect assumptions?

An offer of $4M over 6 years is extremely reasonable for any coach with Schiano's resume. It's even generous, considering RU's financial situation at the moment.

And, as has been opined elsewhere on the board, I doubt the negotiations fell apart due to the difference of 2 years in contract length. Or even over the use of a private jet, although that might've caused some serious problems w/many in the university's academic side.

We just don't really know what happened. But, logically speaking, there's no reason to assume that RU (Hobbs or anyone else) was being unreasonable here. Especially not Hobbs because hiring Schiano would have been the easiest and safest path forward for him.

It's a terrible idea, and the petition is based on no facts, but an opinion. People need to grow up and accept that Daddy Greg is not coming back home. He did not want to come back home.
I don’t want Schiano, but Hobbs should be gone based on his track record of failed decisions involving the football program.

Hobbs aspired to be THE superstar of our athletic department. He wanted to be a popular AD, opening The Alley and drank a beer on camera with students. He appeared and smiled in EVERY photo opportunity. He built buildings. He went on golf trips to Hawaii with the Women's Golf Team. He yearns for positive popularity.

He is now the most-hated individual in our ENTIRE institution. From New Brunswick, to Newark, down to Camden, and back to Piscataway. And he will continue to be the most hated-individual in our institution as long as he is still employed with his $834,147 a year salary.

Pat why would you want to continue to work here? Tomorrow night at the RAC, if you show your face and walk towards your usual seat on the baseline near our bench, the venom, hate, and boos will rain down on you. Across the way in the student section will be a big head of you in clown face next to a big head of Greg Schiano. NJIT is now the most popular game on our schedule at the RAC until we play Seton Hall. The popularity you aspired to achieve is now gone. You have completely damaged your reputation and are no longer wanted to serve for our fine school. Why would you want to remain here?

Greg Schiano created the Block R. You created a silly knight head that no one recognizes or wears.

1738 signatures! Let’s hit 2k tonight! I’m going to figure out who I can sent this to tomorrow. Anyone have the email for Governor Murphy?
