no, tracking for the next miss of Souf, Douc, and Kiss. Maybe Young is going to be on that hyped list too. Lost EO.....really starting to have concerns.

Nor sure what the deal is with Kiss. The one thing I do know is he can definitely do, if given the chance, what Jacob Young does out there.

GRF, Maybe you are right. Perhaps he was in a warm up suit. It might be my mistake.

Young was hyped as a 4 star transfer who was going to play point guard and be a defensive stopper. It's going to take a while for Pikiell and staff to admit defeat here. He looks like he's never been coached and has just always been able to get away with being more athletic than other players.

He may soon be joining Nigel Johnson and Kiss on the list of over-rated transfers. I think there is a reason these players wind up in our laps and I long for the days when we got transfers the likes of Hodgson, Hughes, Duncan, Savage, and even Dabbs.

Hmm, interesting. We really did get some good transfers back in the day. Of course, we have lost our share of good players too.

I don't think Peter Kiss was an over-rated transfer by anyone but some RU fans. I think some fans watched highlights of the Quinnipiac/Seton Hall game, during which Kiss made all four of his three-pointers.

Kiss didn't even make 28 percent of his threes that season. He had sever 0-for games and several 1-for-6, 1-for-5, 1-for-4, 1-for-3 type games.

I like Peter so I hope he can become a positive role player

Here is a good formula for everyone......
TRn=Transfer rating now
TRh=TranSFER RATING IN hs

TRn = TRh - 2
Evaluating transfers must actually be done on X-Y axis where X is actual impact and Y is hype level. All players will be rated on the Bishop Daniels curve. Jonathan Mitchell is on the most efficient spot on the curve - he had high hype and performed well. James Beatty is the only player in the last decade to perform past the curve. Wally Judge is the furthest below curve

Considering the recruiting otherwise, both Kiss and Young were worthwhile additions. Kiss moreso than Young. I don't like taking sophomore sit-out transfers because of the very real possibility they pull a Nigel Johnson.

Nope...linear and the fit is 100%. Discussion not open for debate.

High School guys ONLY or 6 star recruits who failed at Kentucky or Duke.

I miss James Beatty!!!!!!! Build a formula that factors in some characteristic beatty has and i will listen.

If you say so.

Maybe, just maybe, take into consideration that it is an enormous jump from the MAAC to the B1G (in Peter Kiss' case). It's one thing if one of the top two players in the MAAC transferred up to the B1G but, as good as Kiss was at Quinnipiac, unless a MAAC player has a specialty (like being a shot maker, shut down defender, high level shot blocker or volume rebounder) that translates in any conference it is a high risk/reward to take him.

As far as Young is concerned he has always been a chuck-it-at-the-bucket volume shooter. That isn't necessarily a bad thing -- IF you are a good shooter. In both of his seasons at Texas Young attempted more 3FG than 2FG and he wasn't exactly torching the nets.

What has me mildly concerned is you would have said these same things when the transfer happened and i would have 100% agreed with you like i do now yet our coach took both guys AND took a zero on the roster for the transfer year.

Pete had the flu. Relax!
BK, is it possible other players were under the weather? I know none of them would use it as an excuse, but it might explain why they looked “weak” in passing and shooting, etc. Have you heard anything?

I wasn't made aware of anyone else being affected, just PK

How about being over-rated by the RU staff? Maybe Pikiell needs to pump his brakes before he gushes about the next transfer sitting out. Pretty sad that a competent B1G staff invested a scholarship for a year sitting out, a year being a non-factor and a year looking like being bottom man on the bench. Even more sad if he was the “best” that this staff could find after the Year 1 of a rebuild.

I'm sure you remember better than I do what Coach said about Peter Kiss when he enrolled at RU. Usually Coaches have positive things to say about sit-out transfers during their redshirt season. I've lost count of how many "Our best player right now is (insert sit-out transfer's name here)." Sometimes I think it is just a message coach is sending to his other players about playing hard like the kid who can't play in games.

Could the staff have gotten its evaluation of Kiss wrong? Possibly. Players earn playing time in practice, maybe other guys on the team are just better.

Peter Kiss was also being pursued by Auburn, Seton Hall, and Rhode Island (with Hurley)... That's three tournament teams. Let's not act like Rutgers was out on an island for him.

I am going out on a limb and say Peter Kiss gets dusted off and plays some minutes in legitimate action in one of the next 2 games.
