Took me some time to process everything that's happened over the course of the last hour or so. Yeah it sucks to lose. Yeah it was ours to win if we only shot marginally better.

But taking a step back from the ledge... this team went 37-2. This team brought home the first SEC title for WBB. Mississippi State has played for a National Championship for the 2nd straight year and the 3rd in the past 6 years. Mo ended the UCONN record-setting streak in what's become an iconic shot for WBB. McCowan totally obliterated the record for tournament rebounds this year.

I worry if talent will be there to get us back to the Final Four next year. But I also wondered if we would get back there after losing last year. Vic knows what he's doing. It's obvious he's able to not only draw top talent, but develop it and make adjustments to win.

So yeah, it sucks to lose. But I've enjoyed this season immensely. There's no doubt Mississippi State is moving in the right direction.

That’s all well and good, but I’m tired of saying “Well guys good effort. Proud of you” as we walk off the court or field losers yet again. This was our year. It was all set up for us. Notre Dame had a draining win over UConn and looked terrible in the first half. We had a 15 point third quarter lead and a 5 point lead with 1:40 left and lost because of a missed point blank layup, a ref swallowing his whistle and a miracle shot. Just crushing. We’ve never been as close to a natty and I don’t know if we ever will be again. At least not for a very long time.

Just have a feeling Blair will retire at A&M and Vic will go home.

I was just wondering if Gary Blair had announced his retirement and I somehow missed it.

And what's funny is ... 6 or 7 years ago, Blair could have announced he was retiring and not only would we not care we wouldn't even have know who he was without Googling.

While I agree with mostly everything in your post, I’m tired of this “well it was a magical run” thing we say after every great season in every sport. And I’m a very optimistic fan. But eventually we have to win one in something. And while I believe the talent on the teams going forward will be more talented top to bottom than this team, I’m not quite sure right now Vic will be here to coach them. This was our year to win it and we didn’t. I know this was a pointless rant but I’m just venting bc I’m tired of us always coming up just short

I hear you. And yeah, after losing to SC last year I had the same thoughts. I knew this team was going to be good and probably get us back to the Final Four. To be honest, I thought we would lose to Louisville. It took a last second clutch shot to force overtime there... otherwise we would have been sitting next to UCONN watching Louisville and ND play for the Natty.

When you reach this stage, winning is extremely hard. We didn't play many close games throughout the season either.

But when it's all said and done, we've still achieved greater heights in multiple sports than any other institution in our state. I have full confidence MSU will bring a NC home to Mississippi.

It’s home, A&M has lots of $ - oh yeah, it’s out there that both Blair & Logan have been accepted into grad school in College Station.

I’m sure that’s the easiest application the two of them will ever fill out.

Whatever Vic does, it won’t be because of where his kids are going to be spending a grand total of 2 years of their lives.

I think it hurts worse to lose to programs like ND and UCLA who have so many National Championships across the board.

But we are standing on the stage now. At some point in the future, the maroon and white confetti will fall and they'll hand that trophy to us.

Little bit more perspective. Muffett is a HOF coach and she had lost 4 Championship games in a row. I'm very disappointed, but we were right there and maybe we will be again.
