Perspective on Ash

Sitting here on my bus on my way into work in NY city, take this post for what it is.

When Ash was first hired, I had hopes of a dynamic spread offense, a swarming, aggressive defense, respectable recruiting and finally competing and winning games against our peers in the BIG.

What we have after 3 years is a total disaster. We have a coach who can’t make up his mind on what type of offense he wants to run, 3 different OC in 3 years. A coach who can’t recruit if his life depended on it. A revolving door of assistant coaches. The worse here is his judgement around the players, starting Sitkowski over Gio, letting Flacco and Russo walk out the door. Not starting Pacheco from the get go.

It just seems like Ash is not a good judge of talent, bad game day coach, bad at evaluating assistant coaches, really bad at recruiting and closing a deal.

Why isn’t he fired yet, what makes Hobbs think this guys is going to turn it around?

Sounds like the OP was blissfully ignoring football season and just realized what a debacle it was.

We all know why Ash is still here. There are millions of reasons.

I have little doubt our AD would've fired Ash if the department could afford to. Everyone likes winning and it's obvious Ash can't do it.

My point here is, yea we know recruiting is in the dumps but I didn't think we were that bad in evaluating talent that we already had in-house. We had Russo and Flacco here but for some reason Ash made Sitkowski the savior and sent Flacco and Russo packing. It goes into Ash's judgement or lack of. I just don't see Ash ever turning this ship around, lack of judgement in talent evaluation, lack of judgement in assistant coaches, I just don't see it with Ash. Hobbs need to pull the cord with Ash as soon as possible.

We need a QB and as everyone has seen Sitkowski is not the answer.Helen Keller could see that. Sorry but lets move on.

Judging on Flacco is fine, but Russo, not really. He never made it here and competed for the job.
And we all (including me) like to highlight Flacco, but let's not forget that PJ Fleck had him for 2 years at Western Michigan--if he was so special, why didn't PJ take him to Minnesota?
