Super fired up to go to an NU game without having to fly. My 14 year old daughter was complaining about not seeing the Cats win regularly, so I decided to tally up the results since 2010 (she has not gone to all of these games). The facts are quite sad, especially at Ryan Field (1-9).

As always, I expect victory tomorrow. Past performance is not indicative of future results. Go Cats!

Wins (5)
@ Cal 2013
@ Penn State 2014
@ Notre Dame 2014
Stanford 2015
@ Maryland 2017

Losses (14)
Purdue 2010 (Rob Henry)
Illinois @ Wrigley 2010
@ Army 2011 (ugh)
Michigan 2011
Nebraska 2012
@ Penn State 2012
Ohio State 2013 (I am still certain he got the first down)
Nebraska 2014
Iowa 2015 (hate losing to these guys under any circumstances)
@ Michigan 2015
Nebraska 2016
@ Ohio State 2016 (I thought we had them)
@ Minnesota 2016 (so cold)
Michigan 2018 (last time I watched us beat Michigan was the Anthony Thompson fumble)

All during the 70's/early 80's my dad took me to Bears games. I figured I would take him to some NU games to return the favor (he too went to NU). I think the record was 1-5-1 in games he went to. I took him to some real "beauts" such as Miami of Ohio in 95 and Duke in 98.

We're 10-9 in games I've attended.

Basketball is another story entirely...

I couldn't tell you my personal record, but my son (who was there Saturday) made sure to remind me that NU is 3-0 in games he's attended and that it's not too late to get tickets for Notre Dame. That's pretty unlikely, but I told him if NU goes to the Rose Bowl we'll definitely go.

I was at the bowl victory in Jacksonville which I count as 5 wins. I was also at the Army game, so that’s a wash. Watching ‘Cats win on both Coasts ( ‘Cal and BC ) was really fun. Watching ‘Cats lose to Duke this year was not really fun. Watching ‘Cats singing to NU fans in Happy Valley is a great memory. Watching dOSU players gleefully high-fiving their fans after the end of the game on GameDay was a bummer. Anyway, I’m repeating myself ( you will too when you get to my age )....

Here’s the perspective that I try ( sometimes it’s REALLY hard ) to maintain vis-a-vis the ‘Cats ( note: I’ve only been a ‘Cats fan since ‘03 ) :

Our son ( the member of our family who actually went to NU ) had the opportunity in 2003 to interview Joe Castiglione, the long time Red Sox announcer. At the end of the interview, he asked Castiglione what was his greatest Red Sox memory. Castiglione replied : It hasn’t happened yet.

I was a freshman in fall of 2004 and have attended probably 80% of all home games and usually anywhere from 1-2 road games a year since then. My career attendance record currently stands at 64-48. I also track our games +/- .500 after each game. Happy to say that +16 is currently the high water mark.

Looking at home vs. away, the Cats are 50-34 in home games (counting Wrigley as a home game), 12-12 in away games, and 2-2 in neutral sites (bowl games - 2005 Sun Bowl, 2015 Outback, 2016 Pinstripe, 2017 Music City).

If your son can guarantee victory by attending, I could probably scrounge up some tickets for him!
