Just want to say that I have posted consistently for years that without Tim and his efforts and relationship with Delany,Rutgers is not in the Big. Sure Greg and Bob get assists, but Tim got it done. Politi does a good job documenting this. What Barchi was forced to do to save his own job was reckless at a minimum. He is the President of IMG College Sports now. Talented guy.

I'm going to respectfully disagree.

Are you saying if we had a different AD, Rutgers wouldn't be in the Big Ten?
Then who would be?

How does a personal relationship with Delaney matter at all?
It was a business decision for the member schools.

No other viable school provided the monetary benefit that Rutgers did.
Are you implying the Big Tem would have expanded with a different school - earned less money - if not for Pernetti?

That's seem highly unlikely for the smartest conference in college athletics.

I am certain Julie Hermann would not have gotten Rutgers into the Big Ten.

Why not?
Did Comcast lose cable subscribers because of her?
Did a bunch of people upgrade cable packages when Pernetti was hired?

We were invited because we offered the best chance to expand conference revenue for the member schools.

Its obvious you didnt read the story. Pernetti had a weekly call with delaney for 10+ years every morning before he was even RU’s AD

Because the department was such a shitshow under her and relationships matter (especially to an old school guy like Delaney)

Based on the fact that she hasn't been in the industry since her dismissal.
I believe Julie is involved in real estate after returning to the Louisville area.
Think she's around 59 now, so Rutgers probably will be her last college position held

Tim might get another shot as an AD somewhere ,but getting an offer is a big if .
This article might get a program or two thinking about Tim and at 52 he's got miles left
to help a program accomplish success.

“Pernetti, now the chief operating officer at IMG Performance, has only returned to Rutgers once — when his friend Eric LeGrand, the paralyzed former football player, had his jersey retired.”

We need to bring this guy back.
We (the school administration) scapegoated him and treated him like **** (including a ton of the "fanbase"). If I was him, I wouldn't want to have anything to do with us.

Barchi's gone. Who would he still hold a grudge with? Mulcahy got fired for a lot less public scandal and he came back after McCormick exited the scene and they built a freaking statue of him and inducted him the Rutgers Hall of Fame. I think most people lay the blame for that whole Mike Rice debacle directly on Barchi.

Even without more of the details of his efforts to get us in the Big Ten coming to light, I guarantee he would've been greeted warmly by just about everyone here.

Come back, Tim.

It will take some diplomacy and sometimes time is a substitute for that, but I wouldn’t be surprised if a return happens someday. Maybe this article is the catalyst.

Pernetti was huge but the success of the Football program, which Tim helped Greg a lot with, was the driving force. We did not get in due to any other sport. While the BIG had killed Football and helped every other sport, Football got us here and will drive the bus going forward but I like to think Pike and Hoops will keep the bus tuned up until Football comes back.

With all due respect, the idea that Rutgers, a school that was passed over by the ACC in 2005 for Miami, BC and Cuse and again passed over in 2009 by the B1G for Nebraska, was somehow a "no brainer" for the B1G is laughable.

So, I'll simply type: Thanks Tim for your vision and all your work to get us here!

Yeah. And he still lives in NJ.

Actually I did read the article.
And what did all that accomplish?
Nothing.

Eventually Delaney texted Pernetti (out of the blue since even Pernetti was surprised).

Every quote after that talks about our financial benefits to the conference.
Which is why we were invited.

Wrong but good try.
I can provide quotes from the article if you would like about how our location and media revenue potential was why we were invited.
If we weren't on the short list, those other factors don't get looked at. Those same factors back the should have made us better than Nebraska for #12.

Ultimately things come down to money and relationships, both.

No where close: she was in way over her head. Plus she was in no way media savvy here on the East Coast.

“Pernetti, now the chief operating officer at IMG Performance, has only returned to Rutgers once — when his friend Eric LeGrand, the paralyzed former football player, had his jersey retired.”

We need to bring this guy back.

Due to Barchi's actions he's probably extremely wary of the intercampus bus system in New Brunswick.

It’s a disease; People love to comment on articles that they haven’t read.

Actually the disease is that people just like to be miserable SOB's.

it common knowledge that she wasn't into Hot Dogs , only the bun.
(not that there's anything wrong with that)

there is enough to make fun of with her (being the incompetent spineless buffoon that she was) that you neednt go there. ;)

I'm not making fun of her but if it bothers you all so much I'll delete my post. now you two have to delete or edit yours so more sensitive types aren't upset.

Some would say “there” is why she was hired.

And I say this as someone who thought under different circumstances she might have done well here.

Honestly, she seemed like a good hire at the time coming from Louisville and Jurich. I was surprised it went off the rails so badly. But it was clear early on that it wasn't going to work.
