so you're saying there's a chance we can get rid of Gary Danielson? SEC needs to sign that deal immediately if not sooner.

The good news is, maybe no more CBS ******** in 5 years. The bad news is, 5 years is a long time.

This has been assured ever since CBS refused to renegotiate the current deal on the A&M/Mizzou look in. What was the biggest deal in sports history when signed was clear that the conference was totally getting screwed by that point with all of the other new contracts coming out. If they would have just taken it to half actual value or even just increased the total $$ to account for the new schools’ share rather than essentially taking money out of the rest of the schools’ pockets...

Their short term greed was always going to ultimately cost them the most lucrative deal in college sports.

Well actually, Disney could payoff the remaining years, as part of the deal and take over in 2020.

I feel confident it would cost $1billion plus to buyout 5 years, which would need to be recouped pretty quickly on the front end of the deal.

Yeah. You never say never with things like this, but the SEC was surprised CBS wouldn't renegotiate the deal and they haven't forgotten. CBS was always going to have to overpay to keep the SEC. Still can't believe how stupid CBS was, but I sure won't miss them. They're horrible.

Bet they would take $300m

"What they pay" is why they are losing the deal to begin with and doesn't have a single thing to do with the actual value of the package. They are going to want what they make, not what they pay.

Could be some major changes in the SEC coming in 2024 with no CBS and the current schedule rotation cycling through at that point.

Would be a good time to do away with divisions and go to a 3 permanent and 5 rotating schedule for football.

Schedule rotation is through 2025, 2 years after the CBS contract expires. I don’t think either has anything at all to do with the other. I’d love to see us eliminate divisions, but I don’t know that there’s any real talks of doing it.
