Every player has good, bad and mediocre games within their abilities. How is it possible to state what any player 'would have done' on any given night? McCabe put up a combination of numbers not seen in college basketball since 2010 and not at WVU since Rod Thorn. I don't care if he played 60 minutes! Increasing his output during the overtimes shows signs of being a clutch player to me. It's about time he began to show some of the skills he so famously displayed against players of any level in high school and AAU ball. Does his game need to be refined to be productive at this level? Of course, such as driving instead of remaining static and showing off his dribbling skills. But he is doing it and just had the chance to show it. I don't give a damn who plays how many minutes or where they're from. With talented players you teach them the techniques and playing style you expect and give them a chance to execute them to the best of their abilities. And they cannot be pulled after their first mistake, they need to know they have time to rectify it before coming out. When a player has a good game he should be praised. This "Oh yeah? Well if the other guy had been in he would have done twice that!" is b.s. and hurts the credibility of the one saying it. You can't even predict what LeBron James will do in a given game. Give us a break.
