(CNN)The Department of Defense says the military parade originally scheduled for Veterans Day will be postponed.

"The Department of Defense and White House have been planning a parade to honor America's military veterans and commemorate the centennial of World War I," Defense Department spokesman Col. Rob Manning said Thursday in a statement Thursday. "We originally targeted November 10, 2018 for this event but have now agreed to explore opportunities in 2019."

I don't have a problem iwth that. Wish that we didn't have to see a parade that honors butt pirates.

Not on the left so won't answer. Better question is why are you not oppose? We are a democracy in which a show of force should only be used for a specific use and not to spend millions (which conservatives used to hate unless there is a republican president) in order to give a jackass an ego stroke which matches what authoritarian governments do. If government wants to spend millions on the military, spend it on active personnel and veterans.

So, we should stop the Blue Angels, ThunderBirds, Golden Knights, close the Yorktown, etc? It was always a really cool thing when in uniform to get picked to go represent at air shows, static displays, etc for the public. It’s also an awesome recruiting tactic. Moreover, it gives people an opportunity to come show their support for the military and appreciate the awesomeness of what we have in our arsenal which I think a lot of people have no idea or have ever seen it up close.

Didn't say we needed to stop any of that. Those units are good military recruiting and community outreach units. A military parade in our federal city to stroke Donnie's ego does none of that. Or it doesthat in a VERY inefficient way. If a military parade is so worthwhile, do them in the cities that have bases for the people and the troops, not for whatever ego in chief is in office.

No. Not what was said at all. I support those programs. They aren't for the president's ego but rather the public and connecting the public to their military so they can be proud.

You’re talking to a teacher. If you think I’m not in favor of cutting all frivolous spending that doesn’t directly aid our nation, you’re crazy.....cops, teachers, firemen, soldiers need to get paid more. Programs that help our environment, improve healthcare, defeat addiction, enable Americans from rising out of poverty, and keep our people protected and educated need funded. This was (again) a line drawn to divide a debate into a group that supports the military and a group that doesn’t. It’s ********.
