Keep the faith folks, we’re gaining on them and will compete toe to toe within a few years. Next year Barkley will be gone and they won’t be nearly as special on offense. I’m proud of our team’s grit and fight. We will continue to make gains in talent and player development. The staff continues to get better. The future is bright!!

One thing I fault this staff for this year, and that is the inability to recognize that Rescigno is the best suited to lead this offense. He could have had this entire season of experience, and that would have benefitted this years’ and next years’ offense tremendously. They seemed set on Bolin’s leadership ability from the outset. Bolin has proven a great team player but you need to choose the guy whose physical tools give you the best chance on the field. And it wasn’t like Gio wasn’t a proven leader either. Going forward the staff needs to be better at choosing the most important player on the field.

Yep f em.

Remove Barkely AND EVERYTHING CHANGES. His decoy status today changed it all. Today showed an improved program. Next year will be interesting.

Totally agree. Even when Barkley doesn’t get the ball, he’s a huge factor. That element will be lost without a player of his caliber on the roster. And he’s truly a once in a generation talent.

Cannot believe they still play Sweet Caroline

And agree they are the weakest of the so called top teams without Barkley and maybe Moorhead they are in deep doodoo
State Penn is State Penn they will just reload, we have to improve if we want to compete with them. They have depth at the RB and QB position, I think next year they will have a RB by committee but they will be productive.

Most of the top programs reload, sometimes for the better, sometimes not.
But usually they stay in the upper tier because of the overall talent recruited.
Losing Barkley will hurt the Nits, but not to the point they will become a member of the pack. Just distribute his role to other talented players and ( who knows) maybe they'll find a RB (in Miles Sanders class of 16) that will prove to be a good one.

Call me a skeptic but the fact that they return nearly their entire offensive line and the fact they moved the ball with ease through the air...not to mention Barkleys back up was the #1 RB recruit in the nation two years ago (think he may have started the first series) and they have the #2 RB in the nation committed this year...im not sure why we think their offense will take a step back...doesn't their QB also return he will be a senior and he is too small to go to the NFL

No pass rush

Um, actually there were times where the DL was actually getting great push and was forcing McSorley out of the pocket.

If you watched the game, it was clear Ash and Niemann pretty much told Turay on any play where they fake to Barkley just to tackle Barkley and take him out of the play.

The reality is that we need to find ways to beat them. They out-recruit us every year -- that's the reality. I bet they loaded their recruiting section with NJ talent today.

I meant to post this in the game threat about a few particular plays during a PSU drive and not about the overall game

I read on their free 247 sports site while reading about the game this week that they actually weren't planning a recruiting weekend this week they were asking all of their recruits to come for the Nebraska game...I had the same thoughts and wanted to see if guys like Roberson and Caedan Wallace and alfano would be at this game...

You might even score a touchdown.
I'm very glad you've come to post on this board, because I'm genuinely curious and would like to know: why do you root for PSU football?

Personally, I don't understand how it's possible to push down and ignore the stomach-churning, mortifying shame and outrage that any decent person would feel on realizing Penn State (the athletics staff and Joe Paterno in particular) not only intentionally prevented public revelation of some of the most horrific sexual abuse imaginable, but also didn't even stop it behind the scenes, and even allowed it to continue for decades.

And then, with the disclosure of all that finally playing out, Penn State went out of their way to bring in James Franklin, who had a horrific rape incident of his own while at Vanderbilt. He admitted to lying about his actions related to what he knew, he communicated with the victim in a manner that seems odd at best, and there are several witnesses who say he instructed the perpetrators to destroy video evidence.

Yet, folks like you continue to cheer for this program. I honestly don't understand how you're able to do that, so I'm very interested in your thoughts.

We don't have to deal with cuse fans or connie fans or BCU fans any more, but these jerkoffs from state penn are like the worst of those other 3 fanbases combined.

Penn state is always gonna be good. Rutgers needs to get better. Penn state being good or bad is irrelevant.

I'm also not entirely sure why you put yourself through the pain of cheering for the worst athletic department in major college athletics. I can't think of a power 5 conference team with a worse hoops/football combo, not even Vandy.

I'm sure that you'll reply to this by pulling the "morality card" - give me a break, no one with the program (down to the doctors and trainers) had anything to do with our previous administration.

Actually, the culture which caused the most grotesque cover up in modern American history is still exactly the same. You never realize you're part of a cult until the crime and shameful acts are already committed. The pathetic PSU fan base and their psychopathic addiction to winning at all costs directly led to this perverted culture. But enjoy your team.
