Weird take. Billy Donovan praised him. Aren’t you a Donovan sycophant? You think Donovan is less a judge of coaches than you?
dont they all do that? i mean when has a coach said....."that guy i worked with totally sucked ***." billy coached in the NBA for 6 years. did he ever reach out and offer him a job if he was so amazing at player development? especially while pelphrey was a complete disaster for 7 seasons at tenn tech (not developing a single thing).

but sure....lets turn back the clock to 30 years ago. everything for sure will work out. why....because of the cloth!

You really don’t know much but just have anger. Billy Donovan and Rick Pitino are turning back the clock. You don’t think they can coach?

We can all be glad your voice is limited to message board Nancy comments. The rest of us will let the coaches coach and will judge the season by the games played.

Your every decision deserves to be bashed as if every one is a little battle for you to wage is either the definition of trolling or mental illness.

Good luck.

I honestly can’t fathom being so absolutely miserable/angry about a season that hasn’t even officially started yet. Seriously, why do some of you folks even watch? Just to hope the team fails so you can say “see, I’m right”?

I don't know. I hope Pelphrey has success here in this role but I'm not optimistic about it. To his credit, the man has been more or less perpetually employed as a coach or assistant for many years. Conversely, his record as a head coach is underwhelming; that's OK, because many people function better in a support role as opposed to as a #1. I truly don't know how successful he has been at developing players along the way, I'd like to hear from those that do, about that.

I think there is some fatigue among the fanbase about what, to many, appears to be a nostalgia hire. Following the Mark Pope dog and pony show press conference and last season, it's understandable. I remain hopeful that Pope irons it out and that JP is successful here again; hell, I'm an EKY boy myself so I'm rooting for him. Both of these guys deserve that (but must earn it), but on the other hand, the fans that support the program deserve something too.

Player development means everything.

We have not had that for Pope’s 2 seasons. Anything will be an improvement.
Yeah, it's shocking to hear head coaches say they have little time for individual player development. I think they are limited to a certain number of practice hours, and still are technically "student athletes". I hope someone over there can help the guys realize whatever potential they have. Not totally fair to try to fit a square peg in a round hole and then wonder why they didn't live up to their potential.

The people who think this is nothing more than a nostalgia hire are idiots. Pope knows more than anyone that his job is on the line, so he has more incentive to do all he can do to succeed this year. If he hired Pelphrey that likely means he thinks JP will legit make this team better. I have no idea if it will work, but I’ll at least wait to see how the team looks playing some real games before declaring the new players/coaches, and the year, a failure.

Well I can’t say much but a certain member on this coaching staff, said something that spoke volumes. He is there coaching them up every day and he said, “this is a mediocre UK team”. When I heard that; I knew to not expect much.
If that's true, then most of us are right about this team as well. Many of us have been saying that's what we will see this year.

We shall see
