Pelphrey's role: player development.

His role might make or break this season. Not sure about the day to day duties with this role, but I'd have a few ideas:

1. Zoom, and others: Get to the basket, finish strong. No more of these weak finishes around the bucket. Do the drill where coach holds up a broom and will swat the ball away if not taken strong to the basket or dunked.

2. Bigs: Actually utilize and finish a pick and roll. Guys are used to creating their own shot, with mixed results at best. Seems like too often we've set the pick but then don't actually utilize it either for the shot or the pass to the guy who rolls. This is elementary basketball. We creat all this space inside due to guys lining up around the three point arc. Time to utilize that space!

Many many games come down to just a few plays. Success in a couple of these things like above can go a long way. Hope Pelphrey can make a difference. Other suggestions?

No, he’s hired several of his friends. I’m not very excited Mark Fox is running daily practice sessions etc. If you get fired from SC for sucking that speaks volumes. Pelphrey wasn’t setting the college world on fire either

Good thing he didn’t get fired from SC then.
Sorry UGA, doesn’t make it any better does it princess?

Guess we just resort to name calling when we don’t agree with someone. When was the last time Pelphrey coached high major basketball? 2019, glad we’re hiring guys other programs want, lol
What does he current position have to do with where he coached. I know plenty of coaches at small schools who are excellent at the fundamentals etc.

Okay, guess we should just hire unqualified people. Oh, we did that with Pope. Just saying Pelphrey is just another hire because he played here.

Pelphrey was widely recognized as a top flight assistant prior to becoming a head coach for 16 years. Calling him unqualified for this position is extreme ignorance on your part.

When a player development coach becomes the reason for losing a game I’ll get worried. Until then not worried at all. Every player these days has personal trainers and everything under the sun to get better.

Duke hired an ex nike and nba exec as their gm. We made gm part of fox's role. Speaks volumes.

cant imagine you see much, if any real development during the season. its mostly becoming more efficient within your role rather than learning or maximizing a particular trait.

Not whining. Just laughing at you not even knowing who you say sucks.
I don’t care what you laugh at. Misspeaking isn’t the same as ignorance. Laugh All You want I’ll still sleep good tonight not caring what you think. Some of you have no lives and think this site is important smh.

The hot recruiter at Florida who landed top 10 national recruit Mike Miller from the plains as well as David Lee over favorite Kansas has hit rock bottom. I thought he was a future coaching star back in 2000.

To me Mitchell, SD is more the frozen tundra than “the plains” but to each their own 😛

We have coaching experts on this site. They have never coached at a competitive level but they know coaching.

Football analogies are easier to see. A coordinator may be all-world and get a HC job but fail at the HC job. Then, that guy gets back to a coordinator job and demonstrates he still knows his shat. Not every talented coach is cut out to be an HC.

And, this crap is contextual. Example: Chip Kelly boosts Oregon to new heights. Fails in the NFL and then fails at UCLA. And, yet, he rocked as OC for OSU and NU.

But, our fans know the b’ness and have spoken. LOL

problem with that example is that chip kelly was a good coach and achieve success at the highest level. won a title! pelphrey sucks and never did crap. all he did was wear the jersey.

Weird take. Billy Donovan praised him. Aren’t you a Donovan sycophant? You think Donovan is less a judge of coaches than you?
