--Says he wants Hami to use his athleticism to get to the rim and shoot pull up jumper

Was MB not there? If DP was and MB wasn't, that might say something about the relationship between Cal and MB.

When you say more Diallo? If you look at his minutes in last 4 games you will see he has been playing 15 minutes a game. Diallo minutes have went from 28-35 minutes per game to playing around 15 minutes per game in last 4-5 games. Vanderbilt has been getting more minutes than Diallo. Coach Cal is hoping in those minutes he is on the floor that he breaks out of the slump that Diallo has been in over last 4-5 games. Cal is hoping his defense will improve and he shoots more mid-range and pull-up jumpers instead of 3's. If you remember earlier in the season Diallo was scoring 18-20 points per game when he was on his game. If he starts or comes off the bench Coach Cal knows Diallo has the potential to score and play good defense.

Barnhart is probably saying to anyone that will listen that he told them we shouldn't have hired Coach Cal (it doesn't even have anything to do with Coach Cal it appears). He never seemed to be fully on board with the hire in my opinion. That could be why he is not involved with this and Peevy is.

Everyone connected at all to the program knows what kind of relationship Barnhart and Cal have .
I know it's common knowledge but, as the AD you need to show a unified front when things like this happen. I noticed Dook's AD was the one who actually made their statement. Coach K hasn't uttered a peep.

What's the source of the friction?
Cal could have been at UK after OTS left but, Mitch opposed hiring him. Instead he passed on a search committee and went with BCG.
Eventually, after the BCG cluster MB was "strongly persuaded" to reconsider Cal. There has been an underlying coldness in their relationship since Cal took the job.
MB effectively runs everything except basketball in the athletic dept.
It's a weird arrangement but, seems to work.

Good grief here come the haters with more completely unfounded bullcrap.

This was Cal's regular pre-game presser. Peevey is the SID, it's his role to introduce Cal and it was his role to make the statement about the Yahoo story. Absolutely no reason for Mitch to be there when there was nothing to "defend" Cal for as of today. The press wasn't particularly hostile anyway.

regardless of why , its not a good look to have someone step in and declare what questions the coach can or can not answer in a press conference.

Has Peevey ever done this before?

My assumption is Cal's never had any problem facing the media before, why should he now?

So basically you’re completely guessing as to “what Barnhart is probably saying “

It's a guess based on what we've heard about how the relationship is between the two of them. No different than people trying to figure out anything else that is going on with this whole mess.

Why would you throw Chris under a bus to win a message board argument.
Not throwing him under the bus at all . It is not a secret , doesn't mean Cal or Barnhart are bad people , nothing wrong in working environments if personalities don't mesh , as long as it doesn't affect performance . I don't see any evidence of that . In fact I'd say it's going pretty smoothly . And Chris is a MAJOR reason why .
