I wish Iowa had been included in with the teams he said that aren't stomping people. That would have actually been solid bulletin board material.

A direct shot at the Hawk would have been great and maybe fueled the fire a bit but this doesn't really do it that much for me (but that's just my opinion, man).

They like to run blitz with safeties and drop the LBs and they try to funnel offenses inside , Iowa could get some plays to pop inside the tackles , Sweeps and outside zone is a low % offensive call against that Defense , I think Iowa will be the most physical OL they will have faced so maybe Iowa can bully them or force them to more base and 8 in the box calls , It will be interesting

I think that #15 Rushing Defense ranking is a bit misleading. It is based on yds/game.

But, they only faced 345 rush attempts. Probably because their pass D was susceptible and possibly because they were in shootouts to a degree.

If you look at yds/attempt for rushing Defense, they sit at 3.59 yds/attempt. You have to drop down to LSU at #27 until you see teams with similar/higher yds/attempt.

They are ranked #15, we are #23 by yards, yet we have a lower yds/attempt average.

Big Ten comparables: Indiana 2.89, Wisconsin 3.4, Oregon 3.19, and Minnesota 3.79. So they are somewhere between Wisconsin and Minnesota in yds/attempt.

The stats indicate that we may be able to have some success in the passing game. So yeah, I would think we may be more balanced in this game vs what we have been for most of this season.

Hope MG is on for this game and RVZ continues to show out.

If they don’t commit extra defender(s) to stopping the run, I think we can be successful there too though. We are likely going to need to be able to control the ball and score some points to win this game.

They are #42 ranked in scoring defense, Wisconsin is probably the closest comparable at #39. With both being stronger against the run than against the pass.
