People including me killed the Paul at the top experiment. Not sure what clicked but maybe Pike was right but not getting the execution for some reason.
We are clearing out and giving him room to attack downhill. People are too far away and Paul is too good of a passer to run a double

Also he has completely gotten away from standing on the perimeter with his back to the basket looking over his shoulder endlessly waiting for something to happen. That's when possessions were dying earlier in the year

Now he's attacking with a purpose. Not tentative. Looking to get buckets which is why the Cliff dunks are now there

Caleb came up just as big as PM. It was a great team effort. Only complaint is less alley-oops.

Yes but we know Caleb in big games comes up big with great defense and shots. Never in all my years of watching Paul have I’ve seen him have back to back great games. He’s finally coming out of his shell and building in confidence the talent he’s always possessed but is now showing it in game form.

I think he’s always had this in him. Just never had enough confidence to show it on the court. Maybe in practice just not in front of millions of fans
No. I think his teammates and coach were a factor.
Some believed. Some didn't. Now I see all of them embracing it.
I know this. Cliff never misses a pass from Paul and those two are a pair.

So you disagree but than agree that everyone now sees Paul’s confidence going up. So I’ll just take that as you’re just agreeing now and accepting that Paul is the glue that holds this team.

Paul just had a different bounce today. Played with confidence and was taking what the D gave him. Caleb is always great on D and effort. His O is Jekyll and Hyde.

Everything Paul does is predicated on two things:

1. Cliff being a god
2. Paul using his big guard size to keep that dribble alive until cliffs man is forced to commit

Now that the first week of doing this consistently is behind us and on tape it’ll be interesting to see how teams decide to guard it.

I think personally I’d just put a big 3/4 on Paul and switch everything I can. Will be interesting to see how teams respond.

And that’s how you start a gauntlet to lead your team to the NCAA tourney
Paul has suddenly become the man. This is the Paul Mulcahy I was hoping Rutgers was getting when he committed to Rutgers. Right now his confidence is sky high. He's had a major week of scoring, assists, rebounds and being a team leader. If we have ANY chance for the post season, we will need Paul to play this way, because Geo and Ron have been too inconsistent this season to rely on them each and every night.

Maybe Sojo. Paul had this in him all this time. He just lacked confidence in his ability to get inside and score. I don't care what teams do to adjust. If Paul can get inside like that he doesn't just have to dish it off to Cliff. Instead he can kick it out to an open man on the perimeter or score himself. This is the PM I'm sure Pike was hoping he would have become last year.

Totally agree. Paul right now is what we got from Jacob young. Geo and Ron are great but need a third leader and scorer to help them get open shots and play their game. Paul is now that guy. And he needs to be consistently

No hyperbole. He's becoming unguardable. His ability to read the floor is becoming sublime. He has just enough handles to get into the lane against bigger guys and uses his body to back down smaller guys.

Double him and he easily finds guys for open shots (which is where Geo and Ron are at their best) or Cliff for the dunk, or don't and be subjected to his array of big guy moves near the basket that would make Kevin McHale impressed.

I've been saying all year PM is our PG, not Geo. It seems like the team is finally accepting this fact allowing Paul to shine, and the team along with it. And when we score, our D steps up huge.

Paul was pretty bad at different points earlier this year. He is playing at such a different level now it's incredible. I am loving what I'm seeing out of him.

I'd put length on Paul as well. If he makes it 3 games in a row the board is gonna explode

He needs to start selling headbands if he isn't already

A decisive and aggressive Paul Mulcahy is an impact player that changes the dynamics of the rest of the roster.....his scoring vs Northwestern was electric and it's now carried over and impacting his own game and Cliff and Reiber as well.....

Paul isn’t fast, but he is shifty and has a quick first step. Opponents will regret putting a big on him. His problem to date has been dealing with the quickness of BigTen guards. Also if that means a smaller defender on Ron… bring it on.

Like the McHale reference. The footwork that Paul is exhibiting in the lane is tremendous, McHale like agreed.

Right from his first season, fans were saying he needs to shoot more... and off that 31 point outing this shows what could happen.. no longer are teams daring him to shoot or playing him to pass.. they have to play him honest.. and he even drew three guys once... AMAZING difference how everything opens up... and Mulcahy's preference is to take advantage of that.

Very happy for the whole team.
