Paul needs to stop the dirty play

I expect to see apologies from Paul and Pikiell sometime today and I expect Pike to not start Paul on Saturday to send a message that that kind of behavior is unacceptable.
You are out of your mind lol. He's clearly not a dirty player. You really have to question some of you as fans when all you do is look for what our team does and overlook the non calls and petty fouls called against us. You need to get back to calling the weather, but then again you're not always correct there either.

Name another Paul “dirty” play as you seem to be indicating a pattern.

Maybe he's just dirty against IU but that is 2 dirty plays against 1 school. Would seem odd if his dirty behavior is just against Indiana.

Seems like Grayson Jr.

I didn't say he was a "dirty player" - said he made a dirty play - big difference. Do you think trying to trip someone is acceptable or the same as non calls and petty fouls? Also, bringing up weather is just stupid.

Ok so show proof of other incidents of dirty play, he's been playing 4 years now, you should have plenty of evidence.

Xavier Johnson literally shoved him out of bounds, that's a way to start a fight.

No I'm not about dirty play, but you consistently say the refs call great games against us when at times they clearly don't. It gets old.

As a leader, he needs to maintain his control better. He's a fiery competitor, but this was a dumb thing to do.

Good to see you come to your senses on dirty play. My opinion on how refs call games is as irrelevant as my posts on the weather, though, with regard to the discussion on Paul.

Once in awhile I do call out the refs for unfair officiating (I called the refs out last night for what I thought were more bad/missed calls against us than them, although still not enough to make a big difference), but that's infrequent since I'm trying to not watch the game with scarlet colored glasses, like most fans do - there are quite a few fans who complain bitterly about the reffing in every. single. game. That's a sign of huge bias.

I don't think PM losing his cool and swiping back at X in retaliation for being shoved into the bench (from PM's point of view) was a dirty play. I think sticking his leg out in an apparent attempt to trip TJD last night is something that should never be part of the game, regardless of how frustrated he was with how Indiana played him last night.

So your second example of him being a dirty player starts with him getting shoved out of bounds by Johnson and him not just letting that happen. Man, some real dirty **** by Paul there

It was obviously a trip come on. Just bc its not the dirtiest play of all time and TJD doesn't fall to the ground doesn't mean it's not still a dirty play

There’s no chance he doesn’t start imo. It was frustration. Nobody got hurt not that it exonerates the play it doesn’t. It happens. Yes bad and shouldn’t happen. I’ve seen way worse.

Watch the slow motion replay. It's a clear attempted trip. You can still love Paul and be in touch with reality here. It was unacceptable and Paul should man up and apologize

If TJD did this to Paul this board would be losing their mind stroking out about it

I agree he should apologize. I expect he will reach out if he hasn’t already.

What fans know is that Caleb and Paul had terrible offensive performances that probably impacted some plays on defense out of frustration. The lack of consistency on offense has really impacted team performance because they are playing so many minutes and the lack of scoring results in so many grind out games where there is very little margin for error,Its not soley a two player problem but moreso a roster problem with the lacl of shooters/scorers.

It’s been a running joke even here that Paul won “Sportsmanship of the year” award winner or whatever award he got. It’s always been clear it wasn’t deserving.

Personally I like Paul and having a perennial instigator, foul call complainer, on my team. I don’t like some the dirtier acts themselves but I think there is value chemistry and energy wise in having a guy get under the other teams skin and force his own team to ratchet up their emotions in a game and rally together.

We muck it up with reach ins and in-your-face bully defense as much as anyone else. It’s our identity. Paul seems to let his emotions get the best of him far too often and it pulls him out of focusing on his game.

There’s a reason coaches always talk about focusing only on what you can control. Gotta put the blinders on to everything else. Paul is not great at doing this.
I understand your point. I am just saying that he was being smacked up all night and if he did not slip or fall, he was not getting the calls.

I don’t think he’s a dirty player. Just can’t always control his emotions. Small matter but he refused Sha’s handshake post the game at the RAC. He’s still a kid. And a good player. Surely coach will help him

The swing thrown that got him ejected the last time he was in this same building?

Hahah. BS. Xavier launched into him like a little ****. With his shoulder and whole body then ran away crying. Xavier is one of the worst in the league w that crap.

Still, Paul did not need to do this and it was classless. Esp against TJD who is a good kid and simply beat our asses.

You lose all credibility if you don't fault Xavier for that first one. Nice 1 out of 7 win though. Focus on your next opponent and get over it.

Well I think we can all agree and be thankful that Paul's tripping game last night was as effective as his scoring. Missing shots, missing trips, just not Paul's night I guess. It happens

I saw an angle, finally, that made it look like he was trying to trip TJD. So if we accept that YES, he was trying to trip him, then what?

Doesn’t change how I feel about Mulcahy as a player or a person.

Whether Paul tried to trip him or not, whether it was intentional or not, what matters is that all of this not become a distraction for Paul or the rest of the team as we approach the crucial final part of the season.

Whew. We were all awaiting a decision on how your feelings may or may not have changed. Im glad that’s been decided.

Now into other orders of business.

It’s dirty play, and a real bad look. Not just for PM, but for Rutgers and Pikiell. It’s like wearing an Oxford shirt with a mustard stain on it, without a tide stick.

Their arms got tangled and Paul punched him. Obviously the refs saw it the same way.
