Mental health is no joke. I have a son who is roughly Patrick’s age who has had his own struggles with anxiety and depression. I applaud Patrick for taking care of himself. There are more important things in life than basketball.

Good for Patrick. This kid's been under a pressure cooker most of his life since cancer. I hope he can find some peace and then return to the game he loves.

He has to do what he has to do, hope he gets better, next man in, whomever Fran picks off the bench and the pickings are pretty slim. That brings Iowa down to 8 scholarships to work with. Connor, Rebraca, Murray on the front line, Perkins and Bowen at the guards with Ulis, Sandford, Dix if he's healthy off the bench. If Ogundele is unavailable Fran may have to play Mulvey against Frans better judgement. Kingsbury come on down. Anyone else available? The Indiana game was probably a loss anyway as will most of the other Big Ten games so in the scheme of things it's not going to change anything. A loss is a loss by any other name.

Best wishes Patrick. I watched you play since your days as a Barnstormer. You have great character and deserve everyone's respect. Get well and come back stronger than ever. You need to get back to having fun, that's when you are at your best. Go Hawks and Go, Patrick !!

Anxiety and depression, especially since COVID and the rise of the morons, have become an epidemic of their own. I have family and friends who are suffering, and I'm guessing almost everyone on this board does too. Life has always been difficult . . . wars, economic issues, bigotry . . . and recent years have been no exception. Sports, a unique entertainment product, has often provided solace from the day-to-day battle, but sports have become so much entwined with the other issues of the day that even sports don't offer the escape they used to . . . for players or fans.

All of us need to step back and realize what a brief moment we have here and that making things easier and better for others will make things easier and better for ourselves. PMac has shown the courage to take care of himself, an example the rest of us should follow as well.

Best wishes to the young man and the entire McCafferey family as they all go through another challenging time.
