I posted on house blue, but

I'm going to flat out say, we are the better team. When you look at player by player comparison, i think it becomes more obvious.

As well as other factors, i'm confident that we'll win.

It won't matter anyway because if Duke is 2015 Kentucky good like they are saying there is no way that those group of choads will be able to take the pressure of 40 and 0.

1) I don't mind Gary Parrish even when he talks trash about us. He's a fairly interesting guy.
2) Every area he chooses to analyze of the two teams' relative strengths he gets right. But
3) His conclusion doesn't follow from his own premises. All other things being remotely close to equal, a less-balanced team (less able to "start its most talented players" if you want to put it that way) with health questions isn't ever a good bet over a more-balanced healthy team. Period. But the biggest deal is
4) WTH GARY??: DEFENSE?????? Gary wrote that article like defense isn't a thing. Coz he knows it's a thing. And coz he also knows Duke isn't on the same planet as we are with their defense. Not even if Giles actually rises from his grave.

If these two teams ever meet, we will stomp that tomato into V8.

I liked the analysis but it is odd he didn't mention defense since a lot of people list that of why Duke is not as elite as other elite teams of past seasons....Jefferson is and will be a much better defender than Plumley but will Tatum and Jackson be an upgrade on defense too? Otherwise, Duke is at best marginally better at defense.

I am assuming Giles doesn't play a minute this season, I personally think it maybe his best shot at being drafted high, one more knee injury and its over....

If Giles doesn't play, Duke is very good and maybe still worth of #1, but not even close to a super elite team

At every position we'll have as good or better defender than last year (which was Kenpom 30ish before Amile went down.) Vs. 2015, when we finished 12th, we'll be better at every position except probably Winslow > Tatum. But you're right that if our D isn't Kenpom 15ish or better, no way we can be considered elite.

Funny how we usually have question marks on D and UK has question marks on shooting. A little mid-season trade would probably make both teams better, lol.

Duke has 5 players listed that are either injured or coming back from injury: Bolden, Giles, Jefferson, Obi and Tatum. Allen or Jones starting at PG?! :eek:kay:Duke has a lot of injuries, redundant talent and no engine. :)

Whether they can take the pressure, or not, as talented and deep as they are, someone will beat them on the road, in the ACC. You can only put 5 on the floor at one time, and you can bet that they will have a target on their back. Away arenas will be packed and rocking when they come to town. Just like UK, every opponent will have a t-shirt or towel night, and they will lose 2-3 in conference.

And they're in the ACC so those opponents with T-shirts and towels will actually be good at basketball.

One would expect Duke to get reasonably healthy at some point in the season, the question then becomes can a healthy Duke team play together? This may be more of an issue than usual this year. K is catching up in the OAD world but he hasn't been at it as long as Cal,there are landmines built into the model (injuries, players not living up to their hype or team chemistry issues)

On paper Duke resembles UK's 38-1 team as far as incoming/returning player mix.We will see how well they stand the heat if it starts to rise.

1st. Grayson Allen can and would get shutdown. 3 for 12 sounds about right.
2. No real point guard
3. no real point guard
4. no real point guard
5. KENTUCKY has 2 real point guards and a guy named Malik Monk.

UK would whoop their ***.

I think this is very fair. Our 2015 team had the right chemistry and these injuries could hurt development of that chemistry. If this team gels like the 2015 team they will be very hard to beat. If not, we will struggle against the best teams.

You don't, simple. Like I said, redundant talent and no PG. Grayson Allen proved last year that he's terrible at the PG position. All hype. Let them have it. GBB!!!!

I knew you guys had a great shot from very early in the season in 2015 because of the way Tyus Jones finished games.

What I'm looking for is who gets the ball late in tight situations, and can they execute without getting bailed out.

If you're lucky, you'll get in some tight situations and test it out.

Pretty good analysis.

I think the thing that gets overlooked is the style of play for each team. Cal's teams are always good defensively and play very physical. As evidenced by last year, that is a bad matchup head to head for a finesse team.

yes. yes it is. duke has a ton of talent in their backcourt, while not as athletic, they are better shooters and have more depth. top end talent? edge to UK
No comparison. Like night and day. People seem to forget how weak their backcourt was last year, outside of Allen. Everyone is gonna see the difference in the backcourts very soon. They lost Thornton and gained Jackson. Basically the same bunch as last year. You know, the bunch that couldn't stay in front of UK guards the entire game?! Hell, Duke even knew what was coming and still couldn't do **** about it. @realgoodaccount can I use the word "****" on this forum?! I'm begging for your blessing to do so. [eyeroll]

Tyus Jones was so clutch. He is exactly the guy this year's Duke team is missing.

Duke needs Frank Jackson to be really good all year. If he sucks they are screwed.

Thats a big negative there isnt one duke guard that can stay infront of any of ours. They will be getting their ankles broken and po kets picked alot vs UK. I know it hurts dukie that national media is slurrping your alls balls but here UK fans know the truth when it comes to basketball. UK BACKCOURT>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>dukes backcourt NOT EVEN CLOSE!!
