Want more proof about how unpredictable college football is?

ESPN’s Phil Steele and Chris Fallica choose which teams they expect to win every week.

Steele’s record is 15-16-1.

Fallica’s record is 15-14.

A blindfolded monkey throwing darts at team names on the wall could do better.

I’m smarter than they are. I don’t even try to figure out who’s going to win. 18 to 22 year olds? They are unpredictable driving a car, with females, in the classroom and on the football field.

That’s what makes college football the best entertainment in sports. You never know what you’re going to get. Hell, a winless team in a nothing conference could beat a Power Five team like . . . oh, let’s say, Virginia Tech.

I sure hope my alma mater keeps that in mind at noon Saturday in Mountaineer Field. Just because it’s Kansas doesn’t mean you can mail it in and still win.

If Steele and Fallica don’t know what they’re talking about, who does?

You couldn't find water in an ocean.

They pick with the spread. Hence the tie.

They shouldn't be gambling. Good friend of mine who I will admit to some I know used to run a sports book out of Shreveport told me you only bet if you are a 75% handicapper.

Sounds like neither of them are.

What’s saddest about this is the time stamps on all these threads..

It’s damn near midnight and he’s sitting there, alone, playing sportswriter

God... getting old is depressing

And this is exactly what I've said would happen. You do not argue your points with facts, but rather from a position of authority. "I was a paid sports writer for 50 years and have a great 401K, hence my opinions and statements are valid." Now 2 other paid sports writers, who are undoubtedly more financially successful than you, are "idiots."

And you know this how? Obviously, not my peeking at my portfolio. Do the math. 22 years of retirement with visits to 56 countries and 44 states, 30 winters in Florida for as long as 4 months at a time, 14 cruises.

Food stamps won't cover it. Even you surely can see that.

Oh, my God, I am in poverty! Woe is me!
And stupid is you.
Now, let's get back to the OP. NO ONE, including me, as brilliant as I am, can accurately predict college football because it is so unpredictable, primarily because of the age of the participants.

Without exposing your ageism bigotry, do you agree of disagree with that statement? That was the point of the post. Any personal attacks do not change my stance. College football is too unpredictable for anyone to have the expertise to predict the outcomes correctly time after time.

Even blindfolded monkeys or my detractors can't do it.

really hope that when I retire, I wont need wifi to tell people how accomplished I in order to feel it, myself.

No one is calling OP poor................ but we all know that newspaper reporters, even "sports experts," aren't paid well..... It's not an insult. It's just a fact. They don't make a lot of money.

So why this posturing?

I'm sure a long career at a livable wage did provide a nice retirement for someone with no continuing expenses.

So let's get back to the OP then...................... CFE fails to understand that Steele and the other gentleman aren't predicting outcomes..

Which kind of shows that he didn't read the article featuring the two actual sportswriters' betting records. The records posted in the OP pertain not only to W/L but advice given to over/unders and point spreads.

So while Steele may have predicted the correct victor, he may have missed on the spread.

But OP didn't know that................... he was solely searching for a "how can I say I still got it" source of material.

In fact............... OP couldn't even manage to get this statement correct:

"ESPN’s Phil Steele and Chris Fallica choose which teams they expect to win every week."

that isn't what they predict.

Are you serious? Phil Steele who has a national magazine that sells significant advertising? You're saying that local newspaper sports writer makes more money than that. How about Skip Bayless, Colin Cowherd, Stephen A. Smith, Jim Rome? All paid sports journalists that are definitely making more money than you ever did. So their opinions carry more clout than yours? Argue your points and counter the points by your opposition. Arguing from a position of authority in sports opinion is weak and in your case hypocritical as pointed out above.
