I don’t think we should cut any sports.

But we should only be spending NIL money where there will be a real talent and advertising ROI.

I love baseball, women’s lacrosse, and men’s wrestling and we should honor Title IX scholarship requirements.

But why give money to players who can’t help earn it back? I haven’t watched a women’s lacrosse game in YEARS and it’s our best program. No offense to them but the game bores me to tears and most fans - no need to waste NIL dollars there “just because”.
You know nothing about UCONN women’s basketball, it appears.

You’re comparing our women’s basketball program to UConn’s? 😂 I want some of what you’re smoking.

Anyway Geno even said in a recent interview that they’re not getting any NIL cash and he doesn’t expect that to change. They’re doing just fine.

Our basketball program is in the basement of the B1G and not getting out anytime soon. We shouldn’t waste a dollar there.

Among many other things. The women's lacrosse bashing is particularly amusing and utter nonsense. The overtime win against #1 NC was fabulous and enjoyed by many. But, who knows, maybe he doesn't have a t.v.
I saw it was on at one point and chose to watch more entertaining sports. Nice win by them. 🥱

Show me the ratings. Millions of people rarely watch our top two revenue sports. I doubt the WLAX program came anywhere close. It’s just not a fun watch.

You just don’t get it. There are women players who do well (by NIL) and people love them. It means something to fans. It’s not all just about men’s football and men’s basketball.

Yes the rare few who capture national attention, but people’s viewed are skewed by Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark. That won’t happen very often if ever again.

99% of sports fans have no clue who Veronica Burton is and she is our most famous WBB of all time, still in the WNBA.

Spending on that sport is a joke! They are boring to watch compared to men.

Exactly, he just doesn't get it. In 2025 2 of our women's reams won national championships. CMT was a walk on offensive lineman who warmed the bench for 1 year before quitting the team. Really, what can you expect from him.

You and Baz…
Baz was closer to the truth (not me… The Objective Truth!) this season than you were. Are you happy with a losing record and Martinelli being relegated to the second team?

Ultimately you are what your record says you are.

Page bailed on the team in the BT tourney. Screw him if he leaves. We soldier on.

Even if he was, which is debatable, he did it in a pathetically immature manner.

I agree. But the truth is the Truth, and facts rarely have feelings… if ever.

Point remains: NIL money is for advertising and only players that will help provide an ROI on it should get it.

The rest of the athletes should be grateful their tuition, room, and board is being paid for. If they don’t like it then they can try their luck at a different school.

What exactly do you want me to review / acknowledge? Did you see Geno’s recent interview where he says they’re getting no NIL cash and he doesn’t expect any?

If Page genuinely had the flu, which is plausible because it was flu season and a particularly nasty strain this year, then he didn't bail on the team. Until we get confirmation of him jumping in the portal, I would give him the benefit of the doubt.
I’ll be happy to eat crow if he returns. He would have given us a better chance against Purdue. We’ll see what he does.

You said teams should spend NIL only where there is a real ROI. Women basketball players and Geno are revered here in CT (some other women’s teams are in their location too) and draw just as many fans and have just as many “pure” NIL deals as the men, which is a very high bar. They should not be ignored (like Geno says) in NIL frameworks.

If you think we’re in the basement of the big ten, you obviously haven’t been around a while! I used to dream of the years we were in contention for an NIT bid!

Lol. We have no business comparing our women’s program to UConn. They are 37-0 and have won numerous national titles.

Meanwhile we have had little success in WBB and should not waste NIL dollars there.

Even then Geno says they barely get any NIL. They should be grateful for their scholarships - right @No Chores

Sorry I meant our women’s team is in the basement.

But our men’s team is in the basement when it comes to NIL spending, so we’ll be back there soon unless CCC gets more cash and admissions leniency.

Who compared the two teams? I sure didn’t. You have trouble focusing.

You are using such a thin straw man argument there is no connection to be made.

A few WBB stars or programs may deserve NIL cash dollars. Until we have stars again we should not waste money there.

Who is UConn supposed to play if you don't fund any women's sports anywhere else?

Btw - case in point - just saw Azzi Fudd on GEICO commercial. The way NIL should be done.
I thought the exact same thing when I saw it. Similar deal with the Boozers State Farm commercial. THAT is what NIL was supposed to be about, not the pay for play nonsense the “player empowerment” exploiters (agents) pushed. Congress must step in soon.

So in this day and age, how do you get those stars if you are not willing to fund with NIL dollars?

We might as well stop trying to compete when our teams are so bad and players are so expensive, and instead put that money to better use in the sports where NU is nationally recognized and dominant. Go with the coaches that are proven winners and the winning players they recruit. Pump up those successes even more.

What NU might spend on a middlin' value QB on a team headed toward another losing season could instead be spent retaining the talent, and bringing in the best of the next generation, that just brought in another NCAA championship victory. No not that championship, the other one!

What NU might spend on a starting Center who will finally get a handle on defense in February could instead be spent on Berube's starting lineup. She has nowhere to go but up, and the path to victory is ever so much cheaper and easier.

I mean, if we're talking about winning and ROI, let's put all that money to better use than spending on teams that are already guaranteed sources of income regardless their actual results.

I will assume from your definitive statement dismissing the diagnosis of flu that you hold an MD and completed a fellowship in Infectious Disease. If so, could you please enlighten the board on what you are basing this conclusion. ;)

By my understanding (as a physician but not, admittedly, an ID expert), it is quite possible for someone to be past the contagious period (typically 3-4 days) and therefore be allowed to sit next to the team, but not be recovered enough to resume full physical activities and therefore not cleared by team doctors for full participation.

Until I hear someone quote a reputable source that states that the flu was a cover story, I will choose to believe the official NU report that Page was unavailable due to illness.

Apparently you have not crossed paths very often with this buffoon, who is a self declared expert on all things, including infectious disease.
