I supported Cohen as baseball coach a couple of times when it wasn't particularly popular. But I wasn't for hiring him as AD(heard from within the dept that he was very much the good ole boy hire), but approached the tenure with an open mind. NOTHING regarding my experiences on campus has gotten better in his time there, and the wheels seem to be coming off in several regards.

I agree that keeping Joe here should tether Cohen's tenure to him. What reason do we have to believe the offense improves out of the hundreds next year? I'll wait. Inevitably, a bunch of our coaches are about to jump ship, and when he loses Shoop, he loses the one thing that has kept Joe's entire tenure from being a disaster.

Engie, consider this our official truce. I couldn’t agree more. I’m not sure how anyone can watch our offense and have the slightest amount of confidence in the future. They have now publicly admitted that the measuring stick is beating Ole Miss regardless of the circumstances. People can slice it anyway they wish but it’s the cold hard truth.

At the end of the day, I don’t completely hate the decision. I don’t agree with it but I don’t hate it either.

What I hate is the fact that, if Steve’s tweet is true, we are retaining him because of the Egg Bowl. What a 17ing pathetic reason. If you truly believe in what he is doing, then fine at least that is a legitimate reason to keep him. I may not like the decision but I can have respect for the decision.

But don’t 17ing tell me that you were planning to fire him and that game swung it the other direction. People are blaming Cohen. I don’t know if he made the call or Keenum made the call, but that is just awful by whoever it was that chose not to pull the plug based on ONE GAME.

Hiring a baseball coach to be athletic director just shows where we are as a university. High School mentality. It’s embarrassing how short sighted we are. The job is clearly too big for Cohen, I mean, the guy can’t even pull off basic gameday activities. We deserve our lack of success if this is how we choose to run our athletic department.
