The Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio has an “Other Leagues” section that includes photos, write-ups and memorabilia from the short-lived 1974-75 World Football League.

J.J. Jennings’ Memphis Southmen helmet is on display there according to http://wfl.charlottehornetswfl.com/pages_wfl/canton.php a WFL tribute website. He was the new league's very first "Player of the Week" and later was one of three chosen as MVP of the WFL in 1974. J.J. Jennings was a running back and led the nation in scoring in the early 1970s at Rutgers.

I loved the early 70s when you had all those alternative leagues popping up. Of course the ABA was already in full swing but you had the World Football League and the World Hockey Association.
A great trivia question is what was the first team that Wayne Gretzky played on as a pro?
The WHA's Indianapolis Racers as an 18 year old. The Racers sold him to Edmonton and the rest is history.
Someone else who spent part of his early career in the WHA was the voice of the New York Raiders - John Sterling.
