IMO, I think Hobbs will prioritize having local or at least NE ties and connections, someone who understands the local scene, and may have coached here in some capacity. This is based on (1) his hires in other sports, all of whom were HCs or assistants at programs in the NE, and (2) learnings from the Ash error.
This leads me to, of course, Schiano, and Moorhead. If it is Schiano, you hire him prior to season's end, maybe the week of the next bye week in early Nov, to avoid it being more of a distraction than it would be...and so he can start to recruit...and at that time you are playing out the string. If you want to look into Moorhead, you wait...
I'll support Schiano, as I was very bummed when he left here in 2011 as I thought we finally had things rolling and set up well for the future, but I hope he sacrifices some salary to invest in bringing in excellent OC/DC (maybe Hafley can be fulltime DC and assistant HC).
