I reached out to the authorities that be at Mohegan and was told that the Rutgers opponent on November 18 in a single game is Temple subject to the contract being signed by Rutgers. Couldn't have gotten a better source. The game is apparently being sponsored by the Hall of Fame in advance to its annual Classic the 2 days after. I have been to the actual event and the building is great and the event very professional. The Hotel is top notch as are the restaurants.

Not sure why we wouldn’t play a team like Villanova but would play Temple.

Nova is a great win, perfectly fine loss.

Temple is a meh win and not a great loss.

Torvik has Temple rated #62, just between Ohio State and Wisconsin. It's a quality game to schedule.

EDIT: His Khalif Battle projection is indefensible and probably that alone has them 10-15 spots too high. Still, this is a decent game to schedule.

What would it take to get a neutral court Philly team at The Palestra?

I'm sure you will end up being correct. Playing in just a single game against Temple at Mohegan Sun is really a stupid idea. Especially, if it is not even part of a doubleheader.

Unless they give free tickets to every gambler at the place, the game will draw less than 100 people, with us playing home in football against Penn State the next day. Maybe 50 Rutgers fans will go if they don't care about football.

Best of Luck,
Groz

Attendance is not a consideration, unfortunately. A Friday neutral site game isn't really fan friendly. But this is still a much better idea than flying to Spokane for a one-off with Gonzaga.

For the avid fans who want to attend the football game, what precludes them from coming home after the basketball game or getting up early? Otherwise, they have this thing today called TV.

I’m actually okay with this one. They were 17-12 and should be decent next year in the AAC. I’d much rather play Temple than a bad power conference bottom feeder. It’s also not like Rhode Island in that they aren’t a local team playing a “neutral” game. This one isn’t bad. I just hope we don’t get BC in the challenge. PSU is due for a road game too. Aren’t they a better fit to line up with the worst ACC team? I hope so…

If we’re worried about attendance…someone needs to convince our (empty stadium) secret weapon to attend this game….who knows Luke Nathan, can we get him up there?

Not worried about attendance at all. I don’t see the local crowds getting behind Temple nor do I see their fans flocking to Mohegan Sun. We’ll have way more fans there than them IMO.

This match up is fine - nobody should be complaining about playing a 17-12 team that returns their entire roster. They finished 10-7 in an underrated conference and had some decent wins (@ Vandy, SMU, @ UCF, Cincy) - lost to Houston by 5 at home.

This is nothing like playing at UMass. Playing Rhode Island (5-12 in the A-10) at a venue under an hour from their home court would have been.
