Is it just me or is this whole Leach tweet reaction just ridiculous?

Saw a post from Jamont Gordon calling for his job. I know it was said here, but these whiny bitches need to grow a pair and tuffin up. I’m over this countries population being offended by every 17’n thing. Jesus H

Rant over. Continue on

It should be over but neither side of the argument will let it go. The people who were outraged still aren’t satisfied even after the apology, and the other side of the fanbase is outraged by the outrage. Unfortunately the lack of anything else going on is also prolonging the discussion.

He apologized and that should’ve been the end of it regardless of if you had a problem with the tweet or not.

The man posted a social board joke he should have moved past. He apologized for it and will no doubt suffer for his mistake. That in no way justifies those with no compassion or sense of forgiveness.

In so many ways, this has become a really self possessed ****** world.

I am on a social network posting this, so I guess I'm no better than anyone else.

There is literally an Ole Miss player telling State folks to back off our head coach. We have a vocal minority of idiots.

Hopefully a valuable lesson has been learned ...other than that, the world we live in is the one we live in and not another one that we wish we lived in

Someone just asked me if he resigned? WTF!! I am done if happens. My life will be much simpler!! I had seen that 5 times. So if this elderly white woman happened to be married to a black man, that wasn’t the reason she was making noose. This is beyond GD ridiculous! Where the tylenol?

If the season doesn't get canceled, we're screwed. Leech needs to be calling players and creating a dialogue if not flat out begging for forgiveness. He better get off social media and set an example for the team.
It may have been an innocent move on his part, but it was also an idiot move. Should've had more sense than that.
And all you angry old white guys need to get woke. our players have opinions. Strong ones. Live with it or go play checkers with your old white friends while listening to American Family Radio.

It's very red-pulling. Just a heads up this will never end, it will always get worse as long as those that allow it to continue to do so. Communist level of speech control in America.

The cancel culture is out of control on social media and this is just the latest example of that. If there's actual sports going on right now this tweet never makes the news but since the sports world has almost nothing to presently talk about it gets pushed to the front because it keeps the clicks coming.

Yes it's an overreaction and it's self-absorbed way of thinking. Nooses aren't specific to black people. They aren't even specific to black people in this country. Way past time to GTFO this stupid ****.

One thing is certain. We, the collective WE, cannot give in tho the pressure. Let them claw and hiss all they want. No more statements, no more apologies, just wait it out until the outrage crew finds something else to tree. We gotta play opossum until it blows over. It’s beyond ridiculous what has happened.

Yep. If Horka doesn't make this controversy up (and violate journalistic integrity by printing some 1-word Tweets and alleging what they mean, rather than actually asking the players what they meant and printing that), no one even remembers it today, and I doubt he bothers if there are actual sports going on. What a joke of "reporter."

I still have yet to see anyone on Twitter actually saying Leach is racist. The professor apparently deleted her Tweets. I looked for the supposed Jamont Gordon comments and couldn't find them. Otherwise it's a bunch of people raging and seething about the idea that someone might find it racist, or a smaller number agreeing that someone might find it racist, but no Tweets actually saying they thought it was.

I have no children.

This board has made me realize that the liberal bias at our universities has created a real issue in this country. Even at the most ardent Ag schools around like MSU.

If you find Leach's tweet racially offensive you are wrong in your way of thinking and need to reassess and change. Plain and simple. Grow the 17 up.

Melt *****. This has nothing to do with "liberal bias" at universities and everything to do with a couple of journalists playing you like a fiddle, getting you all riled up over a bordline-non-existent "controversy" for your links, and you're happy to oblige them.

don't blame the universities when it's the whole system at fault. You're trained in this from birth through schooling and media.

It should be over but neither side of the argument will let it go.

There's only one side not letting it go: the, yes, "whiney bitches" who INSIST that things such as Leach's tweet are racist. It's getting ridiculous and I'm bewildered how more people aren't getting tired of it. The ones who INSIST that these frivolous things are racist are the ones just stirring up even more racism and hate. I think the people on the "other side" have a right to point out how ridiculous it all is.

It's amazing to me how people like Jamont Gordon navigate life successfully given their inability to see that (for example) cartoons like the one he's calling for someone's head over have nothing, zero to do with race or actual hatred for anyone at all.

Maybe us old white guys can sit home with our money as well. Oh. White privilege I suppose. Wait. I grew up in integrated schools. Went to public college on student loans.
There was nothing about that tweet that was racist. This has confirmed we are living in the twilight zone.

Nobody said it was racist... certainly not in its intent. But it was pretty stupid, considering his new coaching position and the fact that everyone likes to get upset about **** now days. And he's supposedly a bright guy. So he should have known better.

He's apologized, yet some people are unwilling apparently to accept it. That's their prerogative and Leech and the rest of us will have to live with it.

I really hope this coming season gets cancelled.

Everybody had a hard on for Leach when he was hired and he’s just a damn wild card. Sitting in key west tweeting stupid *** memes, he needs to be back in Starkville and fixing the situation, as silly as it may seem to white folks that live in Ackerman.

You really should have more respect for older people, no matter what color they are. That really sounds more racist than the tweet was.

You should also realize that the majority of people do not and would not have even considered that Leech made that tweet for the purposes you are accusing him of.

We have bigger problems, which probably are going to get worse. People should expend as much as energy of helping and supporting each other or else we might in up in a world where all those social issues don't mean a damned thing.

So you're racist AND you hate old people. Damn. We don't need people like you amongst us. People like you are the reason we are divided in this world.

Next time just go with "ok boomer."

Not literally "nobody," but the counter-reaction is 1000x greater or more than the original reaction that spawned it. The entirety of the accusations have been from one professor (who has since deleted it), Lovett (who is almost certainly just looking for an excuse to quit), maybe Jamont Gordon (can't verify that), and less than a dozen Tweeters who may be bots or Ole Miss trolls anyway.

If Horka doesn't write an article using context-less Tweets as his source, this doesn't get picked up by ESPN (who just relied on Horka's article and didn't do any independent verification) and it's over now. If anyone deserves rage, it's him and not random professors who had nothing to do with this, nor "millenials" or whoever everyone else is seething against.

No other SEC school would have their own statewide paper screw them like this. The Clarion Ledger is pathetic.

Looks to me like some people are a little worried that Leach might win more games at MSU than they're comfortable with. He's got a target on his back. Time to stop tweeting with the same comfortablity that a 45 year old housewife with 400 followers does.

Funny, the only people I see still bringing this up, here and on twitter, are the people complaining about it being an overreaction. Sure, some people respond to them, but the only people whining about it at this point are the internet tough guys who need to make sure everyone knows how much of a badass they are because they would never get offended by anything.

And pointing out that something might be racist somehow causes racism? How does that even work?
