Looks like a jumbled mess that just got assembled by 5 to 7 guys saying "I got next" at Liberty Oak Park in Freehold. Love to run the floor can't play offense or defense. Hard *** rims.

I have no clue what or who this team is. This looks like a transition year and maybe the worst we've had in a while.

Losing Paul and Spencer hurt more than we'd hoped, and the replacements aren't going to cut it.

  1. No one can get in a groove with the constant changing lineups.
  2. It's impossible for Cliff to dominate when he is immediately double-teamed as soon as he touches the ball. I don't know what people expect him to do in those situations.
  3. Pike's offensive sets are still terrible. 1 or 2 cool plays a game, but the half court sets are just not good.
  4. No clear leader on this team. Someone needs to be taking charge when the defense slacks or dumb plays are made.
  5. Trying to full court press without Mag is laughable.

Once again Rutgers fans found out why Princeton always is a bad matchup.Their system offense with dribble drives to the basket along with outstanding 3 point shooting allowed them to control the game from beginning to the end.In contrast Rutgers must have missed at least ten layups and the 3 point shooting was abysmal.There wasn't one go to scorer on the court for most of the game.Deeply disappointing performance because the Rutgers fans dominated the arena but the coaching and player performance was missing in action.

I didn’t see the last 9 minutes, but as someone else said no chemistry no identity not fun to watch
Mediocre defensive play mediocre offense mediocre everything.
I hope it gets better

I didn’t see any actual floor general or point guard play out there

I loved watching our amazing help defense and McConnell flying around helping everyone. None of that.

Looked like a bunch of guys at the park launching up bad shots and out of control layups. Only wolf looked in control.

Cliff turner on the intensity in the second half for a bit. Dude get angry and go dominate.

Princeton's system offense has given Rutgers trouble for the last 50 years.

So much to hate about tonight’s performance which I unfortunately traveled to Trenton to see. But, even with all of that, if RU simply made half of their point blank shots at the rim they win. So the sky is not falling. This team is very much a work in progress and Princeton away from the RAC was a very tough opener for a team working in so many new pieces.

Agreed about having no idea what or who this team is. My son said to me 2nd half “What’s this team’s identity”? After watching tonight, I know the players don’t know the team’s identity and their defined roles, but I wonder if Pike knows as well. Everything we heard about from off season did not translate at all in reality on the court. Simpson still looked too out of control, Hyatt still can’t shoot, Fernandes was stunningly unimpressive, Cliff did not dominate inside or on the boards at all……My son and I both said Davis, Woolf and Oskar looked the best, but that’s not saying much.

it was ugly. Princeton could’ve won by 15+ Wolf and Oskar only positives from tonight
‘Simpson a complete no show and is not a shooter
Davis 2-10 and forcing shots
Gavin is not ready defensively and better develop a bull dog mentality quick
Cliff losing two offensive rebounds in first 4 mins of play
cliff missing a dunk
Cliff missing lay ins
cliff looking clueless on D as he didn’t step in lane to stop the ball as Princeton guard drove right down lane

Cliff and Wolf got zero help from their teammates. None. Maybe some offensive help from Oskar. And if we're going to be relying on an playing Oskar major minutes then we are in trouble. Hyatt seemed to have no confidence and was hesitant to shoot from outside and body language was terrible. All one-on-one ball from everyone else - Davis, Derek, Williams. Haven't checked the box score, but Cliff seemed to inexplicably be on the bench for extended minutes. No cohesion or continuity in lineups. Baffling.

Make the layups (as many have said already) and a lot of the other stuff, while an issue going forward, doesn’t really matter last night.

Didn't you know the routine:
All week before the game: Rutgers should win. The other team isnt as good as people think.
After losing: That team is much better than everyone thinks. They are going to win their conference/division.


Wisconsin is going to have pick it up if they are going to easily win the Big Ten West and finish the season ranked.

Who thinks that? He was a very good player for us. Good on defense, very good shooter (except for that stretch where he couldn’t buy a bucket).

But we have a solid shooter in Gavin, with more athleticism. He looked like a deer in headlights last night, but he’s been playing against elite competition for a long time and hell settle in.

A bit worried Simpson still plays out of control. Thought JMike showed enormous potential.

Overall, felt like the hustle wasn’t there. Guys watching, not following their shots. Some hesitation on passing vs shooting. Getting out rebounded. Closing on 3 point shooters.

Princeton seemed more physical than us and looked like a team that wanted to prove their run last year wasn’t a fluke. They outplayed us, came up with buckets when it felt like the tide was turning and they won. Tip of the hat. They looked like Iowa (and not just their complexion).

It’s a tough loss, but not the only one yesterday, ahem, MSU. Pikes a good coach and will make the adjustments.
