So, will we average 9 a game? I'll go under. There has basically been a game every weekend where we've been locked down.

TCU - 7 hits
Tulane (Fri) - 6 hits
Kent State (Fri) - 6 hits
East Mich (Sat) - 4 hits
LSU (Sat) - 4 hits

I don't have much faith in us knocking around a staff on Sunday to make up for another 4, 5 or 6 hit Saturday performance.

But there's been another game where we "exploded" for 12-13. Here what we've done so far...

Opening tourney: 31
Tulane: 23
Kent: 35
E. Mich: 26
LSU: 21

Arkansas pitching will make it very hard for us to reach 26 hits this weekend. I have a feeling this new Friday night kid they got has been playing possum and he's some sorta secret weapon.

Be great if we got that many hits. Sure hope so.

Us knocking around Ty Madden from Texas looks like a real headscratcher in hindsight. He's been as good as advertised ever since:

Vs. BYU - 7 IP, 1 hit
Vs. Houston - 9 IP, 2 hits
Vs. South Car - 7 IP, 3 hits
Vs. Baylor - 6.1 IP, 4 hits

He's given up 6 earned runs on the season; 3 were to MSU. His ERA is now 1.62, WHIP of .78.

Madden couldn’t throw anything but his fastball for a strike. We finally caught on and started squaring them up.

I will be unexpectedly surprised if this team finds 16 hits this weekend. They got 4 tonight. Only 12 more needed to reach my surprised level.
