A lot of emphasis on N'Diaye's offense.

What you should really be talking about is his defensive rebounding and defensive versatility. Can guard the 1-5, although he can struggle in the paint with physicality. Had a DRB% of around 20%. He's especially good at using his length and mobility to secure 3pt misses of the opposing team.

He's as good as a defender as Mo D, possibly better, and he's 6ft 11, the same as Jelavic. This guy's defense and his rebounding, especially the rebounding, are a great upgrade on last year's 4's

He's also a way better offensive player than Dioubate, and Mo D had some solid moments on that end. This guy will be more consistent. Better handles than both those guys as well.

If he plays for us like he did in Italy, we are getting a fantastic player.
I admit that mine is only a cursory look, so far, but I see what you see. He might be much better than most folks are expecting him to be.

Some fans appear to be fine with a middle-of-the-pack SEC coach. I’m not, personally. But I do wish some of ya’ll would at the very least admit that you’re more emotionally invested towards a coach’s personality over their performance as a coach. I wish you would simply say you like him as a person and want him to stay because you like his personality and more satisfied with that than you are with wins while admitting that he’s just an OK coach. Accept that he has flaws but you’re willing to sacrifice some things for them.
Wow, do you know why nobody is admitting those things? Because they're not true.

I have critisized Pope for being soft and I never want to ever hear him say the word "Beautiful" again.

I have said on here a million times, I don't think Pope is the right guy for the job, but he deserves a 3rd year to prove himself. He earned a 3rd year with what he did his first year.

Your problem is, you see a guy who is not flipping out and losing his sh*t daily and you assume he is a Pope fan. No, I'm choosing to be positive and letting it play out.

If we get into the season next year and Pope is still showing the same faults, I'm out.

The real blame should go to Mitch. Pope never should have been hired.

We gotta solid supporting cast roster now, if we can just land a true stud and a deadeye shooter we could make real noise. One of Stokes/Graves/Otega plus Milan would put us in contention.
We have 6 starters now & a couple of potential great role players.Plus 2 freshmen point guards & Noah . I’d like to see Noah & Lil Thorne redshirt Unless we get the 5 in 5 rule change.

This was a super huge pickup. We had to get a stretch 4 for our Offense to be its best. He has more upside than anyone we had been recruiting. He has to get stronger which is a common issue with European players, but if he can consistently stretch the floor, rebound, and rim protect, I don't think we could ask for more at the 4 position. Super important piece. So we still need a deep range sniper, a really impactful wing, and some backup frontcourt pieces.

It’s crazy how Pope was able to do this …not only without a visit …but without any prior word of us even trying to recruit him (at least none that I ever heard).

That tells me the money offer must’ve been mighty large to be able to swoop in and instantly land him like that.

Nice!!!

Great way to end a challenging week.

Keep focus on international players. I would have half the team comprised of international players.

Thinking untraditionally, but UK should invest in and/or sponsor an international team (league/s tbd) and use this participation as a development program and recruiting source for the UK US men’s team.

If college athletics is professional league now, go full professional.

Stokes AND Momcilovic now.... has been what I was hoping for as a best case scenario. Pope has actuqlly got this old blue hair checking on the boards like the days of The DOOR to see if we could *somehow, impossibly* get BOTH Stokes to come and get that can't recruit moniker off his back, and with Momcilovic, whom I have wanted since last year watching Iowa State.

He would light up Rupp Arena. UK would LOVE him.

Frankly, I'd be giddy and quietly sitting back watching everyone run around like idiots going every direction with it.

Just my .02
If we end up with both Stokes and Momcilovic, that’s something we can get fired up about. Pope should have the support to get those guys easily. Make it happen Mark.

i get why everyone wanted freeman. i did as well. but if we are being honest....was he really a good fit? if we land stokes, how effective would he be with moreno and freeman occupying the same space?

if this is pope's last year and i where him...i'd go down swinging with what i know....and this guy is a better fit on paper than freeman.

this is the problem i have with fans.....you make it sound like landing stokes and momcilovic is not just realistic, but expected. and that getting those two is on mark.

those two guys are going to cost you 10M-12M total.....no way mark has access to that kind of money.

How in the heck did I make it sound like it’s expected? I said he should have the support for them. I said if we got those two that would be worth getting excited about basically. What is wrong about that? Do you think if both wanted to come here we would turn them down? Not come up with the money? Also , I guarantee we haven’t spent anywhere near enough to not be able to get these two guys. If of course they want to come here.

They're 100% more team oriented, grow up passing the basketball. And just naive enough to think Pope is cool. They honestly lean into his 5 out style better too. Honestly not sure why he hasn't tried it.
No dude you don’t get it , we need the drive and dunk over someone, then flex type. Forget about the 3 times they miss or get blocked, gotta have that one highlight dunk. Then the masses on here can scream about it during the game thread.
Pope’s first year was head and shoulders above last years team, they just had bad luck with injuries.

Part of my Pope needs to go international idea.

These US kids think he's a dope and play the channels. His dopiness, like Underwood, likely translates better with internationals. Underwood is pulling out water pistols in the locker room. US kids are all about social media and doing the cool thing - and that's not playing for Pope. These kids will just be happy to get some bucks to play a sport, buy into the brand.
BINGO!

Think 50% of roster should be international players. 2 elite transfers and 2 top 20 high school recruits (pay premium on both).

I mentioned on other post, but I think UK should sponsor and/or invest in a team internationally (league/s tbd). Leverage this international presence as development program and recruiting source for the UK US men’s team.

If college athletics is professional league now, go full professional.

Is this guy better than rancik though? I’m asking seriously, I know absolutely nothing about him
Way better, he can dribble, create his own shot, increasing 3pt % and shot 5 per game this season, good defender and shot blocker. Everything we needed in a 4. Excellent pickup and another Euro coming soon IMO. Roster coming together now.

The people saying this doesn’t move the needle yet panicked over not getting Freeman are wild to me. This guys ceiling is so much higher then Freeman’s it isn’t funny not to mention he actually fits our playing style and is an excellent defender. Way better pickup than Freeman would have been, anyone not excited about this doesn’t know basketball.

Bigger and more athletic for sure, but sometimes the adjustment can be difficult. You never really know what you’re going to get from foreign players moving to the US.

This kid moves as good for his size as anybody I have ever seen. He doesn’t hesitate and knows what he wants to do and has a pretty good stroke and will take it to the basket. His experience shows in these clips we’ve seen, I’m happy with what I see from him. I think he can be a big part of this team giving us a guy that can do multiple things good.

I’m being more realistic than cynical here. Even if we added Stokes we’re still not a top SEC team. There’s nothing necessarily wrong with being a middle of the road SEC team in a loaded year. It’s not an insult to say that CMP is an OK but not spectacular coach. I’d put him firmly in the middle of SEC coaches, maybe veering towards the backside because there’s a lot of good coaches in the conference.
:ROFLMAO: lol, come on guy: With Stokes only middle of SEC?

Even without Stokes the starting 5 plus Hawthorne is at least middle of the SEC. Plus we still have spots and options open to fill out the backup slots.

Getting this Senegalese guy really helps, I think. He is the stretch 4 that Pope needs. Plus he will fit well next to Moreno. We'll have two, close to, 7 foot starters, one that can shoot threes. Plus, we will be long on defense with Kam.

I've researched the guy a bit and he is better than Jelly. Jelly played in a developmental league. This guy played in a global "Tier 2" league.

You may be a hater and not realize it.

Dark Pope. This was his guy all along. He was just sandbagging. He's better than everybody who turned us down, they all suck

Shagari Alleyne was raw. He could barely walk and chew bubble gum at the same time when he got here. This guy is 6-11 and can move, handle and shoot like a guard. He doesn't look raw at all to me. This is a really skilled basketball player. The only question mark is how he adjusts to the rougher style of play here in the U.S., but otherwise he looks quite good to go.

It was roughly 2 million and the offer was made last week and signed and finalized today. We have multiple other offers out to Euros that the media just started picking up on finally. I look for us to land another soon.
So you knew of these offers before members of the media did? Who is feeding you this information?
