I know Penn State is not that good of course they beat us but they actually run an offense did you see how many picks off the ball they were setting and didn't stop moving making it very demanding on your defense; and how many times did we get burnt by the pick and roll 4-5 times ala Michigan at the garden last year; They are not setting those picks with their center 25 feet from the basket they are doing right above the foul line so when the big man cuts off the screen he doesn't have to go 20 feet to get to the basket;
Our offense same thing watch 1 guy dribble and 4 guys stand around same crap different game; the only reason we came back like we did was we made a bunch of bombs from 3 point range no great offensive sets;
Throwing this in real quick rebounding, just pathetic we only have 1 guy who can rebound how many times are we going to give up an offensive rebound on a free throw; rebounding is all about effort and we just don't have that

The difference between your offense and explanation comes down to the guards on PSU....news flash, they have very good guards, this notion that "Penn State isn't that good, is not only bad information but just wholly ridiculous.

If I rewind to just last year, they have all of same guards from last year's team that won 13 B1G games last year. Jones, Dread, Brockington, are good capable players....Sessioms is a guard that scored 20PPG at Binghamton before this year, it's not like he's not capable of scoring 8 to 10PPG.

The actual signature of the fans here is to look at the standings and write off a team as if they don't have talent.

Now, should John Harrar and Buttrick be able to matchup in the rest of the B1G....?? Not over 20 games, but when you play 20 games, odds are even a bad team wins 3 to 5 games by default.

Here's what the league is....it has quality players at every program. Maybe not as well coached at every place like others but most rosters have 7 to 8 legitimate starting caliber players on it. It only takes repeating it so many times....for a RU or team that doesn't have a collection of 9 to 10 4* kids like Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Indiana and lesser extent Maryland do every single recruiting class, you have to be gathering players at an elite level OR find and develop players to keep up.....and even your elite 4* prospects sometimes don't hit the ground running instantly or ever develop as many programs hope....at best, some are inconsistent.

RU isn't a program built in either sport with 50-60 4* kids in football like the blue bloods of the B1G in football.....and same applies in hoops. If the expectations are now that Schiano and Pike are suddenly being asked to recruit and win at a Top 4 or 5 level in both sports in the B1G, I'd like to be there too....that isn't going to happen overnight and right now Pike and the staff need to get back to work on the basics. There's no free lunch if you don't have all your players dialed in with 100% effort in this league.

In order for a 4 out 1 in motion offense to work in it's simplest form is predicated on two things:
1) Motion. The 4 outside players must cut. The 4 outside have been stationary during this decline. Worst offenders are Geo and RHJ. Movement will create opportunity and make the defense work harder.
2) An inside out approach. The ball has to enter the post. I am not saying that the Post man has to be the primary scorer but the ball has to enter the post in order for the motion offense to be successful. The inside outside movement opens up passing lanes for cutters and creates better shooting opportunities via spacing.
