Apparently this would’ve been his sixth year of eligibility and the NCAA wouldn’t let him have it after the general understanding was that he could play this year.

That kinda sucks. Tucker day was an All American in high school. I don’t get how he all of a sudden forgot how to punt. Punting is the same at all levels of football is it not? Just kick the ball.

Tucker punted just fine after they quit forcing a punting style on him and let him punt the way he grew up punting. In fact, he boomed several balls after the meddling stopped.

How does something like this take 6 months to figure out? That seems like something that should be easy to figure out right from the get-go. This also doesn’t count against the 25 then, right? So we’d have one more to sign in the 2019 calendar?

I agree it’s not too hard to count the time he has played.

He was listed as a senior last year, but was trying to get a 6th year due to an injury his redshirt freshman year. I assume we brought him in just in case his sixth year was granted.

Reminds me of the story of Ray Guy when he got to Southern Miss as a freshman. He was out at the first practice booming punts. The head coach comes over to the kicking coach and tells him if he tries to teach Guy ANYTHING about punting he was fired.

He got us an ineligible grad transfer.
He also got us a commitment for nearly a year from a lower AL corner who signed with Oregon.

Also got us Lee Witherspoon, after he moved from Birmingham to BFE NE Alabama, to run past hillbillies for 50 touchdowns.*

I say play the odds and go for it on fourth down every time.

I agree most times. In the Florida game, we drive down the field 1st down after 1st down, then we have a 4th and 1 on their 16 and we chicken out and kick the FG. This was at the first of the game where a TD might have made the difference.

Watching Ray Guy punt was almost worth the price of admission itself. I've been to many football games through the years and I've still never seen anything like him in person.

They were just as good as being ineligible. Having them play penalized us two games. Florida and Iowa. ****
