Very odd indeed. It just looks like the guy is so intent on blocking the shot that he really lost track of where he was on the court. He took a path like he was going to dunk. All the momentum was forward instead of upward as he got closer to the backboard. No chance to be ready for that collision.

Growing up when I was about 12 a kid down the street had a basket lowered to about 8 feet that we used to play on all the time and it had a chain net. We used to dunk all the time and play some pretty aggressive games until one day the kid went up to dunk and caught his tooth in the chain net and took his front tooth completely out that was the end of those games. Instantly took me back to that memory.
