OU is doing what’s best for OU. If cozying up to Texas means they finally end up in a conference with long-term stability, it’s a good move. They should have left the Big 12 years ago.

The entire Big 8 didn't listen to Tom. He warned everyone about their ego and greed. The old Big 8 all sided with Bevo. Reap it!!

Sad truth is no one wants to be without in this game of musical chairs. Kansas State and Iowa State are now equivalent of Old mountain West football

They should have never been let into the big 8. Ruined or part of failed swc. Poisoned the big12 and drove off 4 conference brethren due to their arrogance. Now they're bolting that they see the big12 days and$$$ are numbered and compromised.

Hard to feel sorry for the rest of the big12. They're getting what they deserve for being so short sighted

Not at all Spartan. UT has been biggest rival for over 90 years. First Cotton Bowl, if I recall correctly, was in 1929. The OU-Nebraska rivalry more significant for about 40 years (1962-2001) given the conference but Texas always the most emotional rivalry. And they have the bucks. And the state with the best HS players that OU has been feasting on for 70 years. No problem with going with the Horns to the SEC. They will be in OU's division so Sooners can still kick their *** the second Saturday in October. Alabama may be a different story. At least until Saban retires.

Eh, I feel sorry for Kansas and Iowa State.

Good schools, good people. If not for Devaney and Osborne, we'd be even bigger also-rans than we are now.

Now I certainly don't like Oklahoma for historical reasons BUT unless you're a dominant financial giant, the reality is that every team in a more sparsely populated area is going to cozy up to someone if they want to collect the big bucks (and that's important for keeping up in the arms race).

For example, we have to cozy up to Ohio State and Michigan whether we like it or not. And if we were in a different conference, we still would have to cozy up to someone else. Just the reality.
