Rutgers does not belong in a conference with NC State. If it were truly based on history, "conferences" etc, it would be the conference above, but without UNC, NC State, Duke, and UConn, and you add PSU, Pitt, WVU, and Temple. Maybe add Louisville and Cincinnati too. That should be a conference.

Some of you appear to be missing the point. This would not be our "conference." ALL of the Power 5 would be ONE gigantic conference. So all of the money issues, etc., would not exist because ALL of the Power 5 would be ONE gigantic conference.

This would be our "division," and as such is not an absurd idea. What IS absurd is having a division with BC, Rutgers, UConn and Syracuse but not the aforementioned Pittsburgh, Penn State and West Virginia.

Obviously if this was going to be a "conference" we would laugh and walk away muttering to ourselves. But as a division in ONE gigantic conference, it's not entirely without merit. I like the fact you play each team in your division. I like the fact nonconference games have ZERO bearing on your chance for the postseason. Play who you want to play, cupcakes or challenges.

Some of you have the odd notion we are being exiled to an old Big East/ACC dunghill instead of being part of a logical way to determine playoff participants and a national champion. Win and you're in. The stability alone would be nice, although the teams that just miss making the cut would be pissed off in perpetuity.

I'll admit it is hard taking seriously anyone who lists "Eastern Carolina" and "Southern Florida." But this is actually a really good idea if you stop thinking this is eight "conferences" instead of one big one.

Ran across this blog on my Facebook feed. It's an interesting but never-gonna-happen idea. Good off-season fodder.

This would be your new division:

What do you think?

Awful , pass

People always trying to reinvent the wheel for no reason.

I don't think the proposal reinvents the wheel; that would be harmless. What it does do is reinvent the flat tire. Why would Rutgers prefer to be with the remnants of the ACC? The B1G is a much better deal financially and academically. Yes, we have to fight to become competitive, but that is well worth doing.

Thank you. This was the sort of discussion I had in mind when I started the thread.

I would like for you to show me where I said this lame brained idea was yours. This idea is stupid, no matter who made it up.
Might as well have been his idea.. he thought highly enough of it to bring it here. Moronic stuff... but it probably had the effect he was looking for.

How about this for a conference..

Penn State
North Carolina
Baylor
USC
SMU
.. you get the idea.. programs that should of, or did, face the NCAA Death Penalty.

Never gonna happen. The revenue won't be shared evenly across 80 schools. Why the heck would the B1G or SEC agree to that? The idea goes down the tubes without even having to consider it.

The paranoia by some here that this is a plot to make is feel bad by a psu fan is a bit laughable. Put aside the source of the post. The align, ent doesn't cut it from our pespecrive. The idea of a big single confrence is neat...but let"'s see we already have the NCAA and FBS conference so now we will add a third layer?
