If ya’ll aren’t watching this, you are missing out on what has to be the all time craziest tv female characters ever.

For those watching, would you live in the same county as Beth?

Things really ramped up Wednesday night and I can’t wait for the war that is coming. The show is a little over the top but I’m loving it.

“We’re gonna kill em son” makes the “return to sender” incredibly stupid. I love the show, just wish they’d nuance slightly more toward competent storytelling rather than shock value in some situations.

Beth is ridiculous. For all the exposition about how bad Jamie is he’s actually pretty likable imo.

she has to be one of the most 17ed up crazy bitches that exist in tv land. and no i wouldn't want to be around her. She is like dynamite that could explode and take you out with her at any time. She has bigger balls than most of the men and they don't want to mess with her. The way she treats Jamie is funny to me. love the dynamic of the sibling relationships on that show the way they all interact and with their father. Never know when Casey is going to go special forces on someone. the fatherly western ranch mogul or "don" of western Montana role fits Costner very well. i missed wednesday night so no spoilers please. hope to watch it tonight. Used to spend a lot of time in Darby, Montana where they film most of it at Chief Joseph Ranch. beautiful country.

Ozark has a couple of women that could give her a run for her money.

It’s just not a great show. The last episode was okay, but overall the show lacks great writing and acting. I get that it’s television, but even Game Of Thrones was more believable than some of the story lines in Yellowstone.

If you were intending to actually kill an extremely powerful person that is supposed to be a dangerous and worthy adversary -- you don't go on their porch 50 feet and 20 seconds away from successfully completing the task -- in order to send them "a warning" that you've decided to kill them and thus leave them prepared for it. You just kick the door down and kill them. Shock value and cool imagery does not equal good storytelling. Same problem with the last couple of seasons of GOT prior to the shitshow of an ending. All it does, really, is diminish the characters themselves into nitwits.

But maybe he didn't decide the kill them until that morning. Also only one of the Brothers lived there. Two different houses and all.
Need to get them both at the same time.

I can’t disagree. There are some decent actors that maybe suffer from the writing. To me, it is one of those shows that has a lot of potential that leads you to overlook the flaws. A few tweaks here and there and it could be really good. Get rid of the Casey/wife story line, tone Beth down just a little, especially concerning Jamie, and lose some of the cheesiness (writers again) and it would be rolling.

I agree. The Yellowstone Ranch should raise fire breathing flying dragons instead of cattle**

I've enjoyed it very much. HOWEVER, at times it gets a little over the top. And from previews of the upcoming last 3 episodes, it looks like it's going to get even more over the top..... Just too much indiscriminate killing going on. I realize Costner has the sheriff in his back pocket, but good lord. They're killing each other left and right like it's the wild west and there's no criminal investigation what so ever. And when you don't like a ranch hand employee, you just take him out and shoot him? They do a good job of occasionally capturing the lifestyle of these large ranches out west and it's very accurate. But yea, Costner's quote "we're gonna kill them son.....". A bit over the top. And the Beck brothers.....they're a little obvious in their extortion attempts and their threats. As someone said, kind of "Mob-ish". Having said that, I'll keep watching. I'm a Costner fan and the scenery and the ranch is epic.

I know you are just playing devil’s advocate here, but this is dumb. No need to get them both at the same time. Boom, drive on over to brother’s, boom. Season over. Obviously both brothers are idiots for putting a hit out and not having protection from potential blowback. And the Duttons are idiots for not catching them with their pants down when they were literally on their porch. It’s just sloppy writing for shock value. The show is very good and could be great — but this kind of stuff really hurts momentum.

I'm taking the 'Jamie isn't really HIS son afterall' twist. The writing is better this year, but it was terrible last year and had no place to go but up.

Agreed. There are actors in this show with some serious chops. The writing is killing them. I loved GoT, but the rush to finish hurt that show and Yellowstone feels like it is in an absolute rush to get nowhere. Very little character development. Casey’s military past feels forced. Beth’s character has great acting, but she’s too awful to relate to. Jamie is a waste of a character. The whole story line is just disjointed and relies completely on shock value and odd twists to maintain interest. There have been a few really interesting episodes, but the show as a whole suffers from terrible writing. They have a great concept and I’ll keep watching, but they need to slow it down and let some plot lines simmer.

While we are trying to get this show up to it’s potential, what was the deal with the older black cowboy? The way they introduced him, he was going to be a major character and now, he is apparently gone. I’ve noticed this type of thing a couple of times, like they are headed in one direction with the story and then all of a sudden go off in another direction midstream.

Yeah, I don’t know what the deal was with that. I thought he was one of the better actors in the show and then he just vanished. It’s almost like the writers just keep throwing crap at the wall to see what sticks. I want to love the show and I hope like hell they get it figured out going into the end of the season.

There’s another show I feel the exact same way about called Knightfall. Lots of stuff happening, but none of it really ties together to make a great story line. Some really great acting surrounded by some very mediocre to bad acting. It finally got good at the end of the second season.

We thought the GOT season finale was bad. Last night.... a mildly entertaining show but just over the top ridiculousness. I swear too.... that sheriff is the biggest p***** of a sheriff ever.

The Dutton's roll up on the militia camp and go undetected until Rip rode that horse about 5 feet closer

I lost interest in season 1 because of the ridiculousness. I know I'm in the minority, but I'm glad to hear it continued on that track.

Well.... you know .... the war paint on the horse protected Rip.

Yeah, that whole scene was laughable. Everyone standing around having a briefing in the open.... I guess the bad guys were waiting on their cue from the director.

I love the show, thought last week was the best episode of the series so far, but last night was bad. I'm never asleep prior to 11-11:30, but last nights episode put me to sleep.

Fishwater says totally logical approach**

The finished product is a crying shame compared to the movies Sheridan has written, which should have really teed up Yellowstone for success(Sicario, Hell or High Water).

It’s just not very good. I doubt I start season 3. I just don’t care about any of the characters. The writing and directing is laughably bad. There are a handful of good actors, but even a few great actors can’t save this show from the piss poor writing. I think the people that say they love it are just desperate for a new tv show.

If Dabney Coleman is still alive, does anybody else think that he could’ve been John’s Dad on that mtn top ‘flashback’ scene?

Some of yall need to have some fun in life. You'll watch GoT with fire breathing dragons and talk about the plot. Lol. Enjoy it for what it is, a Western fantasy. I didnt realize that Sixpack had so many who enjoy the opera and Hammerstein.

Same. I started streaming it a couple weeks ago and stopped watching right after the cattle was returned.

Not anything like I expected. Expected a less over the top Longmire. Instead it’s more over the top. I prefer Longmire.

Thanks for starting this thread. Where I am, and with the systems I have, I would have to pay to watch. After reading all these reviews I will wait until it's free, then make my decision to continue or not.
