I can't believe there is not a thread on this already. Loving the return after some initial doubts because of that awful XFiles 2 movie but after a somewhat boring first episode, this show has returning as good as ever. I am liking each episode more and more. I didn't see Episode 5 as of yet so please no spoilers on that. I think once you put Mulder and Scully back in their uniforms as agents they just take off and the banter is back. The ratings have been high so you have to figure even though both actors are busy that there figures to be another 6-8 episode season coming down the pike.

Creator Chis Carter said no more in Rolling Stone, of course could change..I havent seen 5, but there was a lot of comedic relief in the first 4, a little over the top for my tastes and I was the biggest x-files fan. Gillian Anderson looks as good as ever, a lot of work done on her lol

she claims she hasn't done work in an interview in response to those saying she has...maybe some botox on the forehead at worst

How recently? Fox indicated about two weeks ago they would be interested in another season and Carter said he had enough material for at least another season, but there are scheduling issues with Duchovny and Anderson (http://zap2it.com/2016/02/fox-wants-more-x-files-but-gillian-anderson-says-i-dont-know/) and (http://tvseriesfinale.com/tv-show/t...ling-to-do-more-but-what-would-he-need-39069/)

1st episode was a two part and Comcast messed it up on On Demand, putting up the first part twice, so I've not seen the second half. Rest of it has really rocked though. I've been a little bummed we're up to episode 5 of 6. Good to hear there's a chance there may be more...

they know they have a goldmine with this franchise, I have a hard time believing anyone will turn down more episodes. I think they wont do a full 12 episodes like most series but instead do a 6 episode season every year and half or so

I really liked the original series but this comeback isn't doing it for me. And Gillian Anderson is horrible this time around.

Best part of last nights episode. I really wish Chris Carter was a better writer and would've flipped the scripts and it wasn't 2 Muslim kids who were behind it.

Always loved the X-Files and have gotten into this new season as well. It started a little slow as Bac said but has really picked up. Sucks there is only 1 episode left..

It wasn't a 2-part episode. The first episode was "My Struggle" and next week's episode (season finale) is "My Struggle II" and those are the only two episodes with the Alex Jones-type personality Tad O'Malley. The second episode (Founder's Mutation) was a classic X-Files tale where scientists for the DOD were experimenting on human genetics, which was exposed to Mulder and Scully when one of the scientists committed suicide in a secure room at the lab. While I would think this is an episode you will want to see if you like the series, you didn't miss the second part of a two-part episode.

I liked the 2 new agents, Einstein and Miller. I could see them running a new X Files with them if David and Gillian don't want it.

here's the quote from Jan 13 issue:

Close encounters notwithstanding, if the miniseries goes well, does Carter plan on keeping The X-Files open for further seasons?

"I think I'm going to answer for my wife," he replies, very seriously. "No."

I thought the exact same thing....although Einstein is terribly annoying. Early Scully was just a skeptic....not so arrogant and annoying.

Miller channels a great Fox Molder.

I like the mini series but I'm disappointed each episode wasn't part of the same story arc that led to a big finally. Some of these ep's seem like b-sides.

Your Rolling Stone interview was the only one where there wasn't a hint of more to come. Here is an interview with Chris Carter that was published yesterday.

TVLINE | Let’s say the planets don’t align and there are no movies and no more seasons — are you OK with ending the series on that note?
I can tell you this: Fox owns this show. I can’t imagine, with the ratings that we’ve got and the way we ended this season, that there won’t be more X-Files. They will find a way to get that done. Because I spoke about it briefly with [Fox CEO] Dana Walden today, so there’s an appetite there and… a chance certainly to find how we’re gonna get ourselves off this precipice.

Every reason I've heard why it won't get done is the busy schedule of the two stars. I'm hoping they find a way to give us another season, even if it is a short one (6 -- 10 episodes).

Huh? Loved the show and have watched every minute of this one.

I like the 2 "foundation " story, monster episode, spooky episode, mystery episode structure like the OS.

But, Mulder could barely keep a straight face the entire time.

Wasn't it all just a set-up for a series re-boot with Miller/Einstien?

I feel used.

Question...I never watched any of the old XFiles when it first ran, and don't really want to go back and watch the whole series. Would it be worth it to watch the new ones, or would I be completely lost?

I think you would be fine to watch the new series. It would certainly help if you saw it previously, but I would think you could follow it starting anew.

Didn't like the ending, and there better be a new series, with Einstein and Miller. Mulder and Scully won't be coming back except to tidy up their story line from the ending.
