Brandon Walker say that CM Punk is debuting for AEW tomorrow night. Any interest? I haven’t watched any WWE in years, but the few times I’ve watched AEW I’ve liked it. Seems like WCW 2.0 with some Japan and lucha libre thrown in.

Maybe I just don’t like wrestling as much as an adult as I did when I was young, but AEW isn’t near as good as WCW was imo.
There was a kickass WCW game for N64 back then, me and buddies used to play tournaments, I was untouchable with Sting
Even if you don't have any interest in getting back into wrestling, tune in just for the crowd reaction alone. Punk has been away from wrestling for over 7 years (other than his role on that Smackdown postshow on FOX) and will be returning/debuting in his hometown, which just so happens to be one of the best wrestling crowds in the world. When Cult of Personality (I'm hoping they let him use it again) hits tomorrow night, that place is going to come unglued.
Didn't he try his hand at MMA? I don't watch wrestling anymore but I thought he was on the undercard on one of the big MMA fights a year or two ago.
Yep, he had an 0-2 record that was actually changed to 0-1 after one of his opponents flunked a drug test

I feel like Blitz doesn’t get it’s just due. That game was super fun, and the little codes you could put in before the game started were hilarious, like the team having huge heads.
I don’t care for AEW. Some things are ok, most of it is ridiculous. I would much rather watch some classic wrestling.
WCW had a really good run for a couple of years but when it started going down it crashed and burned FAST. They operated at a $70 million loss in their last full year of existence. It was unwatchable the last year or two, and WWF bought them for pennies in early 2001. And WWF/E started to drop off in popularity and quality not long after. That competition made both companies better and more interesting and once it was gone the wrestling business definitely took a step back in popularity.
AEW is infinitely better than WWE right now. Wrestling will probably never be as hot as it was in the late 90s but AEW has at least given us an alternative to whatever the heck Vince McMahon’s company has become.

If I come across some wrasslin on TV, I'll usually stop and watch a bit. It always ends with me arguing with the wife about whether it's real or fake.

It took WCW a while to become great, and then the great ones went to WWF.
AEW is really good, what little I've seen of it. It's a fresher product. I also like that they keep up with won-loss records, which is kinda cool, and they don't have "false finishes" and "DQ finishes" like WWE does. AEW is also getting the talent. WWE has gotten so stale that AEW is going to end up making things interesting.

Man, that Orange Cassidy gimmick is really cool. I like what they're doing there.
The worst thing that ever happened to WWE was Linda McMahon deciding she wanted to run for the senate. They toned down the product to make it more "family friendly" so it wouldn't be a problem for her on the campaign trail (although it still ended up being that for her anyway).
AEW is bringing the edgy wrestling content back.....and that's why it's less stale than WWE at the moment.
Really and truly they struck gold by having two super charismatic megastars in Austin and The Rock at the same time. Once those two were out of the picture the fan interest was never the same. Cena was super popular with kids but the diehards hated him, now he’s mostly out of the picture too other than a couple of appearances a year.
Nobody in their current crop has the star power that the top guys of previous generations did. But their style of booking is also self sabotaging, they have a bunch of talented guys who they have totally wasted for years.
Punk has become a folk hero with the diehards in his absence. He’s very good and should move the needle for AEW for a little while, but what happens once the shock of him being back wears off, and how long will that shock last? Once we get past the next few weeks, I think Bryan Danielson (also rumored to be signed to AEW) is probably the more significant signing in terms of producing more quality matches.
