That buyout must have been negotiated by Gary Barta. That's beyond ridiculous.
And same orthodontistChris McIntosh and Gary Barta = same energy
They definitely pulled a Nebraska firing Christ and hiring Fickell.
This is also why they can’t keep him. Next year will be just as bad. Love it.
Nothing but disaster in Badger land. It'll take a decade for them to recover from this mess. They would've fired Fickell, but I don't think they want to pay his buyout. So they'll have to deal with him, for at least one more year. Not that I mind watching Wisky fall further and further.
Keep Fickell, it helps Iowa as there are recruits that both schools chase.
Just goes to show, your AD better have a plan & make the right hire.

Some have said that the Chryst termination was less about his record and performance and more about vision for the program and personality conflicts with McIntosh.
Chryst was down after that loss to Illinois at home in 2022, and McIntosh seized the moment to fire Chryst and bring in his own guy. I think too many ADs are control freaks who want to take the credit for the program’s success, and they can't do that with a coach hired by the previous AD.
