Delta cases will peak in the US in the next two weeks, with deaths trending downward within a week or two after that.

Then we'll be on to lambda or whatever and the vaccines will be damn near useless. I wish we'd hurry up and get on to the therapeutic antivirals already.

Did anyone catch the story that said the most hesitant anti vax group are also the most educated? The phds? What a bunch of ignorant fools. 😭😂😭 Oh, they've got skepticism.
The most hesitant anti-vaxxers are Harris's constituency in particular in the Bible belt. I don't think there are that many PHD recipients hanging out in Arkansas and Missouri. I do know that Harvard University's faculty is nearing 100% vaccination.

Do you always cherry pick anecdotal rebuttals when presented with data?

Just think of the arrogance of this comment. Missouri has 2 large metropolitan areas - KC and STL. Numerous substantial universities and colleges. Was this before your meds this morning?

If you've been vaccinated, my decision to not get vaccinated does not affect you personally.

If you have not been vaccinated at this point you understand or are okay with that risk so at that point you need to stop worrying about those people.
your decision still affects EVERYONE not just me. 5% of vaccinated people can still get covid. And i'm not just interested in myself so i dont want you spreading it to people other than myself either. that doesn't help our society or our country.
not worry about other people? sorry but i care about others. i'm not going to convince you to care about others if you haven't been impacted by a pastor, a religion, or good people by now.

To someone just looking at a glance this might seem like a big deal, and it could be, but we should remember the waves and spreads of viruses don't happen the exact same each year. Comparing the date one year to the same date on a different year is not wise. Same with each wave.

So if Vax you can still mutate the virus same as non Vax? I appreciate the information and have heard that non Vax are to blame for mutations/variants which didn’t make sense.
not a vaccine expert but as it been explained to me IF we could have got the vast majority of people vaccinated in a fairly quick fashion it would have greatly reduced the risk of variants because it wouldn't have given the virus enough time to adapt to the vaccine. the vaccine would have stopped the virus from transmitting so quickly that it wouldn't have had a good chance to mutate

Information he left out: the vast majority of israelis are vaccinated so it would be rare to see an unvaccinated patient in a hospital.
and he did not include how many of the hospitalizations were due to a variant of COVID. he did not include when these people were vaccinated.
there is so much information left out that could have a significant impact on what it all means that it makes his post almost irrelevant.
dont believe most of what you read on the internet
and if you do? immediately go look for information that would disprove your opinion.

This is the worst logic from an allegedly educated person... are you working for the govt?

We have shown and agreed time and time again that the virus is of near zero risk to healthy young people.

The risk of myocarditis or blood clots from the virus is not high among healthy young people.

Then you want to distribute the risk of the vaccine, to everyone, even though not everyone will get the virus and a significant portion of the population is at near zero risk from the virus.

The below graphs show where the risk is, but you think we should put everyone at risk. That is nonsensical.

i dont think you read his post. despite the low risk of covid the risk of the vaccine is even lower. and since carrying the virus increases the risk of spreading it why would you accept any risk of spreading it eventually to someone who will be harmed? if you can get a vaccine with lower risk and reduce societal burden as well thats a good investment.
the risk of covid is not 0. i agree its not an overwhelming threat to all of us at any given moment. But as we allow it to just continue moving thru the population causing hospitalizations and deaths when we could reduce it significantly with almost no burden it doesn't add up.
right now in the biggest hospital system in KC the majority of the ICU is covid patients. The VAST majority.
and this 18 months after it began. you might say its not a big threat but its enough of a threat to take up most the ICU space in many hospitals.

You're the one with the PHD, why don't you tell us how you discounted the data without even seeing it?
because when you're familiar with data collection and how some people manipulate it to use it for deceiving purposes you dont need to even look at it. people in science know what has been firmly established and how others mislead by promoting data based on faulty methods.
drug companies do it in promotion of their products daily when trying to get a one up on the competition. FYI its pretty rare to see a really well done highly scientifically sound study that holds up to most measures of confidence. and i mean rare.
i worked in pharma for 30 years. the really game changing studies occurred once every 10 years in the fields of disease i worked in

not when you are responding to the uneducated. you have to communicate at their level.
So, you're saying you're a member of Biden's team? Do you write his speeches or feed him his oatmeal?? Did you write that 350 million Americans have been vaccinated?? 😆 Check your numbers boy.

A guy I work with had to quit yesterday. He has had “side effects” from the shot since April. Although he has looked like crap since then, I believe he is totally faking. We all know big pharma has his best interests at heart. Plus… he’s probably a racist. We need to get as many people vaccinated as fast as possible. I don’t want to have to be around people that don’t have the vaccination. Honestly, even if he somehow isn’t faking, I don’t care. It should be mandatory for everyone. Including newborn babies. As long as I’m ok, everything is on the table. Military should be seeking out unvaccinated racists at this point

I lived in Missouri for 3 1/2 years. I can assure you that they and Arkansas aren't meccas of higher education. My experience isn't that education is that big of a factor anyway. The biggest factor I see is religion and specifically members of the Baptist Church. I still have family in Missouri. I'm not sure where the numbers for vaccine hesitancy by PHDs is coming from. Every single highly educated person I know including dozens of M.D.s were anxious to get vaccinated and have their family vaccinated. Well I take that back. One senile old urologist who writes whacky letters to the editor was telling people to avoid vaccination.....

Statistics without the background information can be misleading. Israel was shut down early last year to slow the spread of the virus. They have been pretty much wide open now for some time. Unfortunately they have a variant B1.1.7 which the vaccines have not been offering good protection against in at risk citizens. Israel is now recommending booster vaccinations for everyone over the age of 50.

What I said previously still applies to everyone else, not just you. If someone is vaccinated (and believe in the vaccine) then they are extremely safe against Covid if they happen to get it again.

Please clarify, but are you worrying for those who are vaccinated from those who aren't vaccinated or are you worrying for those who have chosen not to get vaccinated?

Vaccinated people infected with Delta carry viral loads similar to those people who are unvaccinated.

As an unvaccinated individual I appreciate you worrying about me (if you are indeed worried for me), but I know my risks and I'm okay with it so leave me be.

The ability of this virus to mutate so rapidly to similarly virulent strains strengthens my belief that China enhanced this virus in Wuhan. There is no way in hell I thought we would still be messing with this damned thing for this long. Mitigation efforts no doubt slowed the production of natural immunity in large numbers of our population. Natural immunity clearly has shown the best protection against re-infection but even that is no guarantee. IMO, we need a broader antigenic base in a booster vaccine.

The length of viremia and potential viral shedding is reduced greatly in vaccinated people. Some of not most vaccinated people don't shed virus at all when re-infected with COVID. Again, vaccines don't prevent you from becoming infected. They hopefully prevent you from becoming clinically ill.

How much longer do you think we deal with this to where it just becomes another "flu" or "cold" type virus and we stop talking about it?

I think it will be endemic in our population similar to the flu and we'll have outbreaks going forward. The rapid mutation and then those mutant strains spreading so rapidly and continuing to be virulent isn't giving me the hope I had last year that this thing would burn itself out. We're too mobile as a society now which lends itself to country to country spread of variants. I do think we'll return to some semblance of normal life once the current hysteria over the Delta subsides. People in high risk categories will continue to get boosters and much the same as with the flu, unvaccinated people will continue to die in higher percentages.

What is going on right now in most of our hospitals is similar to what we see sometimes in a particularly bad flu season. We'll see what happens when we hit flu season around the holidays. IF the B1G has any sense, going forward we shouldn't see much disruption if any to college football. There is no reason for them to quarantine players any more than there is for influenza IMO>

That's kind of a sweeping generalization. I think most that have any clue about mental health realize the impact of isolating kids. From elementary all the way to college.

Your reading of the left and leaders from all categories is wrong imo. Just like when you posted the refutation video it became clear you never watched it, as ZDogg actually agreed with the policy positions of the Mt Vernon Doctor, he just took issue with how he got to those positions.
Among those positions is that our response to the plandemic has done major harm to society in general and to our children's future especially.
Doing away with freedom, science and common sense is kind of a big deal.

I'm not real sciencey & I'm genuinely curious, can a vaccinated person transmit covid to someone else just as easily/common as an unvaccinated person?

Yes, and it’s not a vaccine.. more of a flu shot.

I got the Moderna shots, but I’m not a blind idiot that thinks that makes me COVID proof.

I assume it will turn into a flu like, seasonal shot. I had just a sore shoulder for a day so not a big deal for me. It sounded like my best option, but it’s a discussion between you and your doctor. No one else’s business but your own. You shouldn’t be punished if you choose that the COVID shot isn’t for you.
