Point taken, Pinehurst! Still would like to acknowledge the board vets. Not exactly. It is a day to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. Don't confuse Memorial Day with Veterans Day.

I'd like to thank everybody who posts individually, but obviously can't do that, but seeing as how you post less frequently for than once a year, but took the time to post here, thanks for your service!T

I saw the "Thanks, Vets," thread on the RT and was wondering who all was a vet who is also an SN member. But, you are right, it is Memorial Day, not Veterans' Day!Not to pile on, but this is correct. Memorial Day was originally called Decoration Day because it was the day to decorate the graves of the Union dead in the Civil War.
I guess I will track down all the people that came up to Sunday and MondayNot exactly. It is a day to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. Don't confuse Memorial Day with Veterans Day.
My brother was an air-winger.. says he never set foot on a ship.. might as well have been air force! (his wording, not mine).. and he also had a cute rote response for Navy guys who'd dig him with "Isn't that a department of the navy?".. with "yeah.. the men's department".T

USAF 1969-1973. Unfortunately, spent no time near the air. While on the job, I was 40 feet underground with a Titan II missile.Salute to all branches but I love seeing fellow scarlet Airmen!
I spent close to a year on a ship, that never hit port. And figure this, I joined the USAF instead of the Navy becauseUSAF 1969-1973. Unfortunately, spent no time near the air. While on the job, I was 40 feet underground with a Titan II missile.

No worries! I really did make a mistake. Could have phrased my OP better!Did not mean to criticize you for starting the tread, and am glad you did. Sorry if I came off as opposing the thread.

Your welcomeC'mon, man. Surely you can appreciate the point of my comment and the spirit behind it. Memorial Day is sacrosanct to me and should be to all Americans. In my community it is a somber and reflective day. Nonetheless, thank you for your service.
