Generac is the best. Kohler is known for making toilets.

Under 20kw I would recommend a Generac anything over that I wish you the best of luck with your Generac service technician as you both will become fast lifetime friends.

My cousin has installed whole house generators of both these brands for 20 years as well as servicing both brands during that time, and his experience is that Generac units have more problems than Kohler units. He also told me that a Kohler 14 kva unit will put out (start) and maintain a higher output than a similarly rated Generac unit.

GE makes light bulbs and air craft engines. When one of their light bulbs burns out I don't fear my flight going down.

Exactly, my neighbor builds 30-40 million dollar homes on the beach on A1A for many years. He used to be the south florida Generac distributor until they started having many issues. People paying that much for homes expect excellence and not having their generators breaking down in the first year of installation. Hence he did some research and ended his partnership with Generac and moved to Kohler and no issues since.
