Depends on price point....

If you want to stay around 20-25 the go either Buffalo Trace or Elijah Craig. If you want to go up from there just reply with your price point and I will help.

Currently drinking Old Forrester Statesman, Pinhook Bourbon War, and High West American Prairie - all around $50.

Knob Creek and Four Roses single barrel are two of my current favorites when I want the “good stuff”. Usually in the $30-$40 range.

Good stuff. It’s a rye though. I have a couple of their new Faviar at home saving for a special occasion.

Jefferson Ocean was really enjoyable.

Larceny is a smooth whiskey for a great price $25
Woodford is my go to very Smooth $36. Woodford Double Oak is kickass for about $48.
TX Whiskey made it here a few years ago and their blended whisky is caramel and vanilla and smooth as **** for about $36 as well. TX also has a single barrel Oak like Woodford for about $50.
Also in that $36 range is Longbranch from Wild Turkey. Another smooth blend.
Unless you are buying for real bourbon drinkers that will appreciate it, no need to spend a $50 plus on the Blanton’s or Weller and otherwise IMO.
Make friends with the owner of the liquor store and talk to him and they should guide you in the right direction.

Yes! I couldn't find Green Label for the longest time but got a new source for it--now I stay stocked with a bottle all the time, and have End-of-the-World bottle stashed away for emergency relief.

I like Bullet or Woodford. That's about the most I will spend right now. Makers is our usual go to.

Personally, I'm a Maker's Mark guy. Woodford Reserve and Gentleman Jack are also mainstays. For a real special gift, Widow Jane (if you can find it)

Eagle Rare is by far, by far, by far the best you are going to get for the price. It's tough to find though, particularly in Mississippi. I can usually find it at my favorite Memphis package store.

If you ever try it, it will become your new favorite. If it's not your current favorite, it's only because you've never tried it.

Yeah I’ve got a lot of the fancy **** mentioned in this thread in my liquor cabinet, but if I’m being honest, my go-to is a half gallon of Canadian Hunter for ~$20. Be bold. Be the hunter.

Like others said, it depends on how much you want to spend...

My "Every day" bourbons: are Bulleit, Knob Creek
After that is my second tier: Jefferson's Reserve or buffalo trace (nothing special but it's hard to find in MS)
Then there's a tier by itself: Blanton's ,Jefferson's Reserve Ocean.

I’m m getting all my relatives that are guys whisky for Christmas. What are some of yalls favorite brands?

I would say my limit is about $100 for a bottle

You might have missed the opportunity, but I have been touting Henry McKenna Bottle in Bond 10 year single barrel for awhile now. When I first came across it 2 or 3 years ago I paid $24 for a bottle. It has steadily climbed over the years and the last bottle I bought a few months back was $38. My lady at the store told me she now has trouble getting it and she believes it will be over $55 the next ones she gets. If you can find any, get it now.

I guess this is the reason

Heaven Hill Distillery is the Distiller. In the link you will actually see many of the other whiskeys mentioned in the post. Everything I have gotten from them I like.

Like everybody else, I could throw out my favorites, but you kinda need to know your target.

If they don't care for sipping whiskey and are just going to mix it in Coke, basic Jim Beam, Evan Williams or Wild Turkey is fine. WT101 is a fine mixer or sipper.

Maybe a nice Rye for someone who likes bourbon cocktails. Rittenhouse (Heaven Hill), Sazerac are solid on the low end. Russell's Reserve, Wild Turkey 101 Rye, Willett are all a notch above. Pikesville (Heaven Hill) at about $50 is the best Rye I've ever tasted. Whistlepig is ridiculously expensive for what it is to me.

For somebody who knows whiskey and can handle some that are much higher proof these are my can't miss bottles: Eagle Rare (it's effectively smoother, better, older Buffalo Trace), Wild Turkey Rare Breed (WT is one of the world's great whiskeys, most don't realize it), Henry McKenna 10 year BIB (Bruce said it best above, make sure its 10 year, bottled in bond single barrel), Knob Creek 120 Single Barrel (Beam's best under $50 to me), Maker's Mark Cask Strength (I don't love Maker's, but wouldn't pass up a sip of this), Old Forester 1920 (best of Brown Forman under $60 or so to me) Blanton's (consistent in a beautiful bottle, important in bourbon history).

Also, Willett Pot Still is in stores now. Average bourbon to me, but as a gift the bottle is cool as hell.

Scotch whisky is a whole nuther thing to me. Need to know for sure that your receiver likes Scotch first and foremost.

I'll second TX, I was shocked at how smooth it was. Rock solid in a cocktail or stand alone.
