we also lost the poster Scarletalf maybe even as long as 10 years ago, he had two sons huge hoops fans Josh and was the other rutrifecta? I think Josh went on to attend school at Maryland
I think it’s every bit of ten years ago that scarletalf passed. He was a great poster and a true gentleman, too. I’m sure many recall that he used to do a Rutgers basketball podcast, on which I once had the honor of appearing prior to one of the SHU-RU games around 2004 or ‘05, I’d say. BK was in representing the Rutgers side of things. Good fun! It wasn’t many years after that he (real name was Alan Fendrick, I believe) was gone.

I think he died in 2012. I think he was around 50 years old.

R.I.P. Jellyman (Sanford Cohen), you will be missed .
If there ever is a HOF for RU message board posters:
Jelly deserves to be voted in on the first ballot. Maybe an automatic spot reserved for him and be inducted the moment that HOF is started.
That's actually a good idea, maybe the mods can create something on pinned thread.

their contributions were remembered by many, and they will be missed

Alan died in 2012. He was 48. Loved Rutgers with a passion.

Here's a video of Alan on David Letterman's Stupid Human Tricks when he was a student at RU...

Don't think that is the right Sanford Cohen. His middle name was Harold. I thought Jellyman was Sanford M. Cohen with mom named Barbara.

https://www.inquirer.com/philly/obituaries/20160624_Barbara_Cohen__mother_of_Comcast_executive.html

It mentions her younger son Sandy who I think was Jellyman here.

I'm off the board for a day or so and all hell breaks loose, lol. Jellyman/Sanford M. Cohen, HP class of '79 - classmates with my wife - is very much alive and well. Seems odd that people would post that he had died back in April when there's no evidence to that effect. As you so easily discovered, the obituary people were posting about isn't even about the same person (Jellyman is most definitely Sanford M. Cohen, plus, Jellyman is 58, not 60).

Also, if he had died in April, people don't think there would've been an obituary and a billion Facebook posts on the various Highland Park FB pages, especially the one for his class? I don't think we need a Jellyman post to "prove" he's alive, although I'm sure he'll get a good chuckle at all these threads/posts, and it would be fun to see his reaction. The only thing we can be sure of is it would be a very long post with lots of data and analysis. PIP (post in peace) Jellyman!

I thought I recalled derleider posting sometime in the last year or so saying he was leaving the boards since he was busy with his career. Ash kept the spirit in the program at an all time low so hopefully it's just that.
I recall him posting the same thing about a year ago, as he got married, has a young kid and just couldn't take the losing and didn't have time to post like he did before. 99.9% sure he's alive, too.

Was jellyman ever ill or in poor health at all in the past year or two, or has he been in good health all along? If the former, then glad to hear he has recovered and is doing well now.

Another great fan, I think his handle was RU78 (or similar). Steve Tracy was his name, passed away over 5 years ago, obviously way too young. We lived in Campbell dorm and saw him a few times at bowl games. Great guy.
Went to gsme with him and then boom, no more. No idea he was struggling

Wow, between you & Jelly posting on that page, that must be one long read.
Fortunately, for posters on their class's Highland Park page in particular, neither one of us posts there, lol, as my wife is the one from HP, not me, and Sandy isn't active on that page. She says the page is very active overall, however, as it's a small, close-knit community and whenever anyone from her class or even HS dies, it's big news.

Guys - Jelly and I use to ebail all the time and, while he never revealed his actual condition, he had made it known to me it was a “matter of time.”

Was very upset when John O and I pieced together, a few weeks ago, that he had passed.

What does "matter of time" mean?

Pretty sure his handle was RC78Fan. He was part of the group that made the pilgrimage to Greasy Tony's the day before the Insight Bowl. My buddy and I got there first, then the Ledger's Manahan arrived with his video crew and interviewed us, and then we ate (large trash can, of course) and as we were eating a whole bunch of other RU fans arrived, including Steve, fandiego (felonious monk), SantaFeScarlet, Earthood and others I can't recall. And Jim Gandolfini and friends arrived after we left. Unfortunately, the Ledger no longer has the video nor the story on their website, which kind of sucks. I ended up watching the game with Steve, fandy and others, as my friend fell sick and they asked me to join them and I had a blast. Most fun I ever had at a game we lost.

That’s right, forgot his handle. I remember that video too.
