I drive a considerable amount for work and am looking for some additional shows outside of the State centric podcasts.
I also listen to Bill Burr and Joe Rogan Experience.

Hardcore History (my favorites being the ones about the Romans, as well as "Prophets of Doom")
History of Rome is great and super long and detailed
Extremities is an interesting new one far out islands where people live
I enjoyed all 3 seasons of Serial, with season 3 actually being most engrossing

I forgot to add. I do have Carlin’s Hardcore History. I agree that is a good one.

I will check out all the recommendations!

Revisionist History is great.

Robert Earle Keen hosts a podcast if you’re into Americana type music.

I really enjoyed "Bad Batch". it's about the charlatan pain doctors and others selling "stem cell therapy" injections. The only FDA approved stem cell therapy are with stem cells from your own bone marrow. These people are selling stem cell injections from cord blood, and none of it is covered by insurance (up to $16,000 per injection), and it's snake oil. Placebo effect. Really good podcast, that is easy to get through fairly quickly.

Jordan Peterson is a respected academic with around 100 published, refereed articles. He also knows how to take on the woke crowd and the intolerant far left. E. Michael Jones is failed academic and an anti-Semitic lunatic who pushes conspiracy theories that make Alex Jones seem reasonable. If you want a podcast that gets a thumbs up from white nationalists then listen to that Jones dude. The Far Left tends to call Jordan Peterson alt -right. The actual alt-right doesn't like him.

Good choice with Bill Burr and Joe Rogan

Bloggingheads TV is good for politics and culture (The Glenn Show is really good)

Scott Adams (Dilbert guy) can be interesting
Any podcast that has Steven Pinker and Jonathan Haidt as guests
Sam Harris, an atheist, is interesting.
Check out the Great Courses. They have university-level courses on a variety of topics that leave out the activist-based lectures you're more likely to get on a college campus.

Quillette has good podcasts
Dave Rubin
Babylon Bee (religious guys) has good podcasts
Gad Saad, an evolutionary psychologist, is good

I don't listen to many sports podcasts. I get enough of that on the radio, tv and Thunder and Lightening.

And I like a variety of perspectives although some are clearly off-limits for me.

Wicked games. Talks about each US president election in history. It’s crazy how slimy politicians were back in the 1800’s

Disgraceland.

And, if you are a hunter, the MSU deer lab has dispelled many hunting myths. They do a good job with it

If you want to really learn scripture in depth, I highly suggest Stephen Armstrong. He has around 15+\- series. Each one is on a book of the Bible. He records his sermons and puts them on podcast. Each podcast is 45 minutes or so long. Some chapters take 45 minutes. Some take 3-4 hours. He explains each verse and the context of what the culture was at that time. Original language and misinterpreted words. It’s really good stuff. Genesis is 109 episodes and took him over 2 years to preach it through his 4th time. Revelation is unbelievably amazing and eye opening.

My suggestion is to start with Revelation. It is unarguably the hardest book to understand and interpret. He explains it in great detail. It is very eye opening and makes you realize we are very likely living in the last days. Next, I would do Genesis. It’s long, but it sets the stage for the rest of the Bible. He details the triumphs and failures of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph and shows how Joseph was a picture of Christ. There is so much plainly hidden references to Jesus and his life that will make you realize some things about free will and predestination.

I am in his Luke study now. It’s fantastic, too! I don’t read and comprehend as well as I comprehend from listening. If you are a believer, you need to listen to these. If you’re not a believer and curious, listen to Revelation and Luke. Message me if you need to talk privately. I’m no scholar. Just a beggar trying to help another beggar know where I found bread.

Econtalk. Don’t let the name fool you. Very few episodes are on the finance side of economics.

Mad Fientist - this is finance/financial independence. Start on the first episode and go until you are bored. Don’t start on a recent episode.

Mad dogs and Englishmen - basically a review of recent political events/news but but analyzed mostly from policy perspective rather than political although some of that too.

I’m always amazed at how little substance there is to Jordan Peterson. He talks non-stop and says hardly anything. I guess to some people that’s a talent.

If you haven't listened to the first season of In The Dark, it's awesome too. I think its a good listen for the naysayers on the Curtis Flowers case, as if the producers just picked that case and pulled **** out of thin air just to make a point. Although they do delve into some issues with the criminal justice and how sex offenders are treated in this country, which I'm sure some on here would take issue with, it's a really great podcast.
