Any MDOT folks on here that can say why this stretch of road resembles something you’d drive on in a 3rd world country?

The condition of some of our state’s infrastructure does little to negate the perception of our state.

I drive a motor home all over the southeast, Ms isn't even in the top five of bad roads. Tn , I would consider better but Alabama, Louisiana, and Arkansas are worse than Ms without a doubt. The long wheelbase of a MH reacts differently than a car. The worst roads are the concrete ones with expansion joints. Those joints are just the right distance apart to start a MH to porpoising. We could have Highways as smooth as the autobahn and that wouldn’t change.
My Mom and Dad ran into a couple from Indiana while on vacation one time and they asked if they needed to divert around Mississippi in their motor home or chance it going through. To “divert” from where they were, they would have had to go north from Birmingham to Nashville and 40 across to Little Rock.
Dad started to tell them they definitely should.

You would be correct to an extent, then we also use river rock in many areas, which is not the best, but available. Was driving through Texas a few years ago, a big difference i noticed in road repair was how deep they dig out the preexisting road and fill. I don't see us doing much of this, I'm assuming this is one reason our paving jobs seem to get in bad shape so quickly - especially in areas with expansive clay?
Fixed that for you.Yes sir, many concrete roads ride rough when they are notmaintainedbuilt properly.
All reports indicate that the project has plenty of funding, but all human and capital resources are diverted to a certain establishment along that particular strip...err I mean stretch of highway. *
