More sad than anything, as he probably was molested by 'dad'. He's just living his 'normal' life.

Did anyone really say Sandusky was innocent?

I remember people arguing that JoePa was innocent, but don't remember anyone ever saying that about Sandusky.

Now that Joe is dead, where are the victims going to go for help?

Didn't RU fans all know about Sandusky 5 years ago?

Did anyone really say Sandusky was innocent?

No one with a working brain, IMO.

No one in my Penn State circles believes Sandusky is innocent, but there is a vocal minority of the most hardcore Paterno supporters who have spouted off some garbage suggesting just that on the internet.

If Paterno turned in Sandusky early enough maybe Sandusky wouldn't have raped his child molesting son thereby sending the son down the same path.

How's that?

nah....Jeff was in his mid 20s in 2001....too old....abuse already occurred. but whatever...it's still Paterno's fault, not Jerry's.

LOL it took you like 52 minutes to get here for this thread. Pretty slow for response to a possible Paterno thread.

That goes up the line. If the Pope had done something centuries ago then Sandusky would not have been a victim. It started before Paterno was born and now he is dead.

Now that you know there is a problem are you going to do something about it or are you going to do the same as Paterno?

I used to be one of the kids in here, posting and laughing at offensive jokes just because they're offensive and horrible. I used to browse 4chan daily. Not being able to relate to them made it really easy.

As I've gotten older and emotionally matured, I know that the people who make those jokes are insecure and suffering themselves, so they have to take it out on someone else.

Jokes about feminism, racism, self-harm and any others that put a certain group down are detrimental to society. Not to mention the fact that on the sidebar, it says "The group still represents the Basement", so is the Basement fine with this? In the rules/pinned post by Scott Ballard, it says that "Homophobia, racism, sexism and making fun of the disabled or any other sort of post that is deemed unfit will result in the comment/post being deleted and at times an instant ban, this includes memes and PFAs". So why are half the posts on my feed exactly that? While it may seem harmless because it's in a closed facebook group with 70k others doing the same thing, you have no idea what each of us has been through and how harmful it could be to our mental health.

Making jokes at the expense of others is lowbrow comedy and very easy to do. It takes a person with a good sense of humor and wit to make a funny joke that doesn't offend a certain group of people. I would encourage you guys to think about this before you post.

When the Bathroom was created, it was great. It was all banter and jokes related to the Basement with a lot of culture. Now, it's just a bunch of edgy kids posting pointless, offensive jokes for likes. If the mods stuck to the rules, this group would be so much better.

How about 1976, 1987 or 1988 ...

ah yes...the 1976 story....the kid that got assaulted by Jerry at a football camp.....doesn't tell a family member, friend, teacher, guidance counselor, healthcare worker, the ice cream man....but no.....he saw Joe Paterno in the hallway....chased him down...and was like...hey coach....Jerry assaulted me!!!.....of course, Joe Pa was like....huh?...beat it kid...I got a football season to run......then, after having this knowledge of Jerry being sexual predator....screw calling the police.....let me promote him to D Coordinator....watch him start a state-wide charity to help disadvantaged boys....allow my own kids (and later grand-kids) to hang out at the Sandusky house for b-day parties....all to win some football games....awful

gotta admit..that was good story

87 & 88?....you're referring to the Schiano, Tom Bradley, & Kevin O'Dea accusations?....nothing to do with JoePa....but let's discuss for fun.....welp, Schiano & Bradley deny the accusations of being aware of any misconduct...but they're probably lying....not sure how they're still working....they should be fired...or in jail because...you know...they were accused of knowing and not doing anything about it....it was in a deposition.....sooo, it must be true.

then there's good ole Kevin O'Dea (Saints assistant coach).....effin a*shole denies it too....he was accused of seeing Sandusky rubbing a boy's back while the boy was lying on a couch in his underwear in 1988......forget the fact he was coaching at U of Virginia at the time, and didn't come to PSU till 1991...but eff that.....it was in a deposition.......it must be true.....liars all of em.

If Schiano, Bradley, or O'Dea (again...I don't care if he wasn't even at PSU at the time of the accusation) actually reported what they knew....none of this would've happened.

i'm outraged as you are.

Very sick and very sad. I hate to speculate but one wonders if he was a victim of his own father first.
My first thought, as well.

If he was... then he's a f'n liar too....... lock his *** up with daddy and hope he never sees the light of day ever again...

Is this Paterno's fault? Maybe you can blame Jay.
Blame goes to ?maybe the culture that surrounded him while growing up with a pervert for an adopted father and seeing no one caring enough to put that pervert in jail.
So the blame should go to those who put football ahead of a child safety and Jeffery Sandusky saw that first hand..
That doesn't excuse what he did ( if true) but might explain why his moral compass was screwed up.

The 1976 story makes perfect sense. He approached a figure of authority he believed he could trust. Said authority figure scorns him. Kid probably felt the other adults in his life would react the same way and internalized the event. In many ways Paterno's rebuff is as cruel as Sandusky's actions. But hey, let's not let that get in the way of putting the Paterno statue back up, I mean that all that really matters, right.

your interpretation makes total sense.....though you ignored why on god's green earth paterno kept him around, promoted him, supported him starting his charity, allowed his entire family attend social functions at the Sandusky household for many many many years......makes total sense.

Or maybe....just maybe....the story isn't true....lol

hey the dude took a shot, conjured up this story....PSU paid him w/zero vetting cause their a bunch of p*ssies and wanted all this to be done with.

my version plausible, no?

nah, my bad...Paterno just liked having a pedo as his right hand man. allowing his family to hang out at Jer's house was just to keep up the elaborate rouse.

Paterno promoted him and kept him close because Paterno was trying to protect Paterno. Whether word got out in 76 or when it did tht he was harboring a ped the result would have been the same. No more Joe. Joe ignored the kid just like he ignored MMQ. See the pattern or do you just want to ignore Joe's culpability. Joe is lucky he died when he did, a deposition of the man would have been quite inconvenient for his reputation. And no, as an attorney, I have never suggested a client payout when there is no plausible evidence. The fact that they paid the 1976 victim is prima facia evidence that they knew Joe's denials would never have stood up in court. Joe's denials were about as credible as OJ's.

Truly believe this segment is trolls. I have believed that JZ is a troll himself as well. I know MANY and some very close. Close enough to have spoken to whatever the hell Freeh called a "team".

Nobody that is sane believes Sandusky is innocent. It is true that these sick scums of earth do fool people though. Bright people. Nobody wants to fathom the monster that may lie within some.

So your position is that Paterno was not aware of the Sandusky allegations and that he did all he could possibly have done morally to ensure that this never happened again? Whether it was 1976 or 1987 or whenever MM confronted him, I honestly cannot fathom how intelligent people can possibly believe that this man - who ran the campus - was not aware at some point about what was going on. Arguing about what year he actually knew is just splitting hairs. And considering how little Paterno did about it, if you do accept that he knew, then I have no clue how you feel anything other than pure contempt and disgust for him. The man was a piece of scum.

I read the article, the "son" (and four other children) are adopted. So I'd say there is a 200% chance that they were molested. Another son, Matt Sandusky, during the 2012 trial had alleged that his father (Sandusky) had molested him. Per the article, Matt Sandusky was never called as a witness during the 2012 trial, and Sandusky was never charged with molesting his adopted son.
