Any suggestions on extremely warm gloves? I got a pair of Schmidt work gloves with thinsulate that supposedly were rated for -40. They suck.

Depending on what you have to do when you're wearing them, mittens are the answer. I wear just a single layer buffalo hide leather work glove most of the winter at the ranch but you have to be doing some pretty physical labor to stay warm with them and it sucks when leather gets wet. I wore them yesterday clearing snow all day but I'll probably break out some lined ones this morning. -8F right now. Some type of Gore-Tex lined mitten for use in the snow is the only way to go for snow blowing or snow sports. Columbia always seems to have good stuff.

Thanks. I've had some success wearing wool gloves underneath my other gloves. That works great, but can be a pain to wear two gloves at a time.

Merino wool glove liners.

My hands get cold very easily and no matter how highly rated, or how expensive the glove, my hands get cold (very cold).
The only thing I’ve found to help are merino wool glove liners. I’ve tried 4 brands of varying thickness, but think the SmartWool ones are the most effective and carry two pairs incase one gets wet.

Mittens if you can't keep your hands warm, it's likely more to do with your circulation than the gloves.

I wear thin gloves, Head is the brand and just put my hands in my pockets if they feel too cold. If I'm outside long it's to work so the work keeps me warm.

Like others have said, mittens are the best if you don't need the finger dexterity. Aside from that general statement, Carhartt are my favorite.

Ok, what is the best pair of socks for extreme cold? I can stand a lot of cold temperatures but once my feet get cold I'm done, have to go in and warm them up
I have not found them!! Get too good of ones and my feet sweat and it's a quick spiral. My best has been a cotton athletic sock double layered with a wool sock. Sometimes just gotta change out at noon or at least put them on the heat register while having a bowl of soup for dinner

Two pairs of socks. Ankle socks under and then longer athletic socks over.

The answer you're all missing is the underlayers on your legs and torso. 32 Degree Heat makes very comfortable base layer pants and shirts. Warm but breathable.

Cold water diving gloves if you have to get your hands wet at all. sealskinz waterproof socks are great but good footwear should only require normal thinner socks. Window cleaner here.

That's been my experience as well

I haven't been able to find any where I live but, battery powered gloves sound like the ticket for non-work gloves.
