Purdue vs. Northwestern women. Apparently it was senior night, Purdue inserts player who was no longer playing due to multiple concussions. Unfortunately her name was not in the book, administrative technical and NW hits one of two. Purdue won by three as last second three by NW misses.

RU women befitted from a similar "roster technical" earlier this year (opposing coach forgot to submit starting lineup in time).

The situation you note here seems to be intentional. Our earlier situation was accidental.

Often teams will purposely missed the two free throws in instances like that - where a player (senior) is being recognized pre-game.

Usually, the opposing coach/team is informed beforehand.

My daughter got a T in high school. She had different # on home and away uniforms. Kid submitting line ups put down road # for a home game and she got T for wrong #

I know we did something once for an injured UConn player so she could achieve a career scoring record with an uncontested layup, and then we scored an uncontested layup down the other end to even it up. Was that Abrosimova?

Many years ago the star of the Massachusetts team was injured for a game against us. The game was interrupted for a protest. The second half was played sometime later, with the player healed. Because he was not on the submitted roster when the game started due to his injury, a technical was awarded when he came in when the second half was played.

The sit in game when umass was ranked number 1.

Wasn’t us it was Villanova iirc. Wasn’t Abrosimova, before her time.

Thanks, just looked it up - was Nykesha Sales vs. Villanova in 1998, 3 years before Abrosimova started at UConn. Knew I remembered something like that from that era.

Call me the Grinch, but that's slimy to me. If I were the opposing coach and UConn asked me to do it, I guess I'd have agreed to it. But I'm not down with asking the other coach to allow a phony play to jag the stats and set a record.

Am I misunderstanding this?

There was a lot of controversy when it happened.
