My kids took video of me without my knowing and it’s obvious I have to do something while I can.
Lots of very good testimonials, anyone have any experience with it or some other posture corrector product?
Yoga helps, but now I’m back to golf and I’m not consistent with it.

Can you post the video?

You mentioned yoga, but have you considered just doing some simple stretching exercises in the morning and evening, perhaps when you are watching TV?
And, not on this chart, but supermans on the floor are a really great exercise for the posterior chain.

Posturific. It works Zap. It just trains you to pull your shoulders back.

I stretch a lot, no issue there

I know this is a useful chart, but being the wiseass that I am, I feel compelled to highlight that one of these stretches seems to be saying “go f yourself”.

It is just a matter of being conscious of your posture and to pull your shoulders back chest out stomach in and head up once you remember. It's not natural to have good posture.

I have been accused of having my head up my arse, and when I bend over backwards to correct that, it solves two problems. :Sly:

Requires assistance but a simple and cheap way is to use athletic/KT tape.

Put two pieces in an X across your back on your shoulders.

As you start to lean over, the tape will gently remind you to keep your chest up.
You can scale it - loosen the tape as you start out and make the tape more tight over time as posture improves.

That would hurt people who have a hairy back?

Is it upper back, lower back, shoulders that are affecting your posture? Each one can be addressed in different ways.

Long ago when I first got into working out, due to lack of knowledge I overbuilt through the chest which was pulling my shoulders forward. I instituted a wide range of shoulder exercises which addressed mainly the posterior deltoids and to some respect the lateral deltoids. And I've stuck to that to this day, extremely effective.

I've also done a ton of damage to my lower back, so I have a regimen of core exercises to keep that whole area strong. That also helps with my posture.

Do some rowing type motions. With bands hooked on a door knob do pulls. With dumb bells do single arm rows as you are bending over. Use the opposite hand on opposite knee for support.Bend overs with moderate weight strengthen the lower back the rows help build the rhomboids and lats that do the same for the upper area.Zappaa, I'm sure that you have been in enough gyms to know the exercises.Good luck.

All those devices are wonderful to cue you into good posture, but once you take them off, if your neuromuscular system isn't trained to be in "good posture", you will go back to what your brain remembers. I tell my patients if they were to envision perfect posture (looking at you from the side), draw a line from the opening of your ear, to the bump of your shoulder, to your hip, knee, and ankle. Another easy thing I have them do is stand up against a wall or door, and see if you can get your head, shoulders, butt, and heels up against the wall. It's amazing how many people cannot.
Simply, you have to stretch what's tight (usually the front of your body) and strengthen what's weak (usually the back of the body).

The best trainer I found for posture was/is Elliot Hulse (former St John's football player with degrees in physical therapy). People love him or hate him, but his posture stuff is the best imo. It takes a few of his vids to get the picture because he will be very clinical in one vid and and very bro master in another. There are lots of stretch and lift vids but Hulse goes into the bigger picture first. Hulse actually changes quite a bit over the years so his earlier vids wont always line-up with later ones but the changes are very instructive as well

The dog is staring at me like I'm nuts! OT: Can your recommend any good pillows for a side sleeper? My neck kills me in the morning.

I bought a wonwow contoured orthopedic memory foam pillow a while back from Amazon. It's 3.5" on the low side and 4.7" on the high side. Provides great neck support, without being too dense.

I don’t have any specific recommendations. Just make sure you’re not sleeping with several pillows that would cause your neck to tilt sideways. You could always roll up a hand towel and stick it between your neck and the pillow to see if you would like those contoured pillows before you go spending a bunch of money on pillows.

Just ordered it thx! I have a Miracle Bamboo pillow, but it hurts my neck because it's too high.

Thank you! The one above was $35. I figure if I don't like it my daughter might.

Find the Best Posture Corrector for Optimal Alignment

Hi all I am curious, has anyone actually used these Posture Corrector in the past ? How did you find them ? I've been tempted by the idea of one, but the physio never mentioned to get one personally I believe if the Physios that i have seen have never prescribed me one, or told me to get one. then is it a bad idea to get one ? surely overtime your body will get used to using these and muscles start to fail so to speak ?

To answer the question in the OP - the various posture correctors on the market work *while you are wearing them* but don’t do much to fix the underlying cause(s) of poor posture.

You can add doorway stretches to these. Plaxe your hands or forearms against the doorframe, do a lunge and hold for 20-30 seconds
