Cali,

Tiger Woods is the best player in the world again. Yes, better than Koepka right now. If he stays this healthy he could win two majors this year. Remember when you said that putting is the first thing to go? Yeah well he is back to being the best putter in the world. His game is sick right now. Maybe the best he has ever been. It’s all about staying healthy though. We could be in for something special in 2020 if he does.

Never going to happen he cant play 2-3 weeks in a row. He cannot play enough to stay consistent.
He could easily do a Jack Nicklaus schedule that was geared for nothing but majors.
But you often hear Tiger needs to play to be sharp...he's going to have to figure out the balance.
IMO...he'll be doing well to be on the leader-board on Sunday at the majors.
To many great young players who can get hot at the right time.

Agreed. I think US Open zero chance if he can't hit fairways the rough will chew him up physically. The 2 that I think he would havE a chance. The Master's (the rough is most courses fairways just has to be precise with irons and the British as long as not crazy cold damp weather. He'll get lots off roll on ball just has to keep it out of fescue

Tiger's now too long in the tooth, so to speak. He can draw a crowd and endorsements, yes. But winning majors? That's unlikely.

He won the Masters last year, obviously, and has looked very good winning tha Tourney in Japan and the tournament in Bahamas, hitting fairways at a rate as good at almost anytime in his career. He was the best ball striker at The Presidents Cup. Tiger is still as good as anyone on the Tour, if he stays healthy, he will compete in every tournament he is healthy for. He will win 20 Majors by the time he is done.

Do you guys follow golf? His driver right now is unbelievably accurate. His putting and shot making is the best in the world. He just won in Japan against a top top field. Finished fourth at the Hero and was the best player at the Presidents cup. The US open is his if the weather is dry and warm.

You do realize he won the Masters last year don't you? And if he stays healthy, he'll win more majors; if not, he won't.

Cali shouldn't even have the nerve to post in this thread, given how ridiculously wrong he was about Tiger ever getting good and winning a major again.

He’s won one major. It was a great win. He’s playing well, no question. We will see if he can get another. I doubt it. But it’s possible. All about his health. Father rime gets Em all.

I think a big factor will be the health of other top players. JT is still recovering and now BK is on the sideline.

Surprising the US could win without Phil. Guess it gives him more time to prepare for the Saudi International.

Yeah...not exactly how it works for Tiger.

Even in his heyday when he was jumping with Navy Seals and running a billion miles a week, he did not play every week. He needs to stay sharp but he won't do it by playing a grinders' PGA schedule.

He doesn't need to.

Phil is past his prime. He's currently ranked somewhere in the 60s. There are many Americans, probably 25, better than him now. Heck even guys like Jordan Speith, Bubba Watson, Kevin Na, and Kevin Kisner, who are better than Phil now, didn't make the team.

He didn't go to Rutgers

Rutgers of the West Coast...

The current players should all merge together and pay a "Tiger Tax" of say 20 % of their winnings to Tiger as long as he keeps playing the regular tour.

Once he moves to the "Champions" tour the not flatbellies can expect their purses to surge.....IF......Tiger plays that tour.

I don’t think you have been watching he has been hitting fairways and his iron game has been dominant. He was the best American by far at the President Cup

+1
It's all about health for Tiger. He still has enough talent to win, for now. As you said, father time wins all battles. His window will close very soon.

If father rime hasn't caught Tom Brady yet, maybe Tiger Woods can elude for a few more years.

Admittingly I have not been watching...let's see what happens when the real tourneys come into play and not exhibition play. He's only going to play like a 12 or so tourney schedule tough to stay consistent with these young bucks out there playing 20 or more

He's finally overcome the issue with over swinging the driver and to a lesser degree, everything else. His swing is not the same on the course as it is on the range.

It's scary to think that we may see the best Tiger, yet. Not as long, powerful and dominating in that way but consisteantly accurate, with the ability to hit any shot on any trajectory, consistently.

That has everything to do with consistent tempo, something to varying degrees, he's always struggled with. The last three times out, he looks like he has scarily mastered that slow rhythm, jerk free at the top, ultra smooth transition. When he plays like that, no one can touch him. The talent just takes over. That final round on Sunday at the President's Cup was a clinic. Hopefully he stays healthy and keeps the rhythm. You never seem to hold on to your best golf for very long in this crazy game.

It is almost as if he started pitching for the Astros...lol . Anyway- I am glad to see he come back strong. Like him or hate him as a person, Golf is so much more fun when he is playing well. Agree with Zap- he should schedule only to do what he has to do for the Majors.

My game has been on the back of a milk carton since 08. It wasn’t that good before but was going backwards to find that game. Finally gave up last year and started over with a new swing.

I completely burned out this year. I played pretty much every weekday, weather permitting, the entire season. By October I was so burned out it was hard to even enjoy round. My scores got worse even though my play was the same. It got to the point where I wanted to do anything but play golf. I haven't touched a club in a month and do not miss it at all.

I ponder if he hadn't changed from Butch as his swing guru ?

There is him in the PGA and then everyone else for the normal/casual fan.

BEYOND THE ROPES by Helen Ross

“One of the things that Woods enjoys away from the golf course is diving, particularly cave diving, and spear fishing. He has been certified as a master diver according the National Association of underwater instructors. He reportedly has learned to hold his breath underwater for four minutes.“

who knew? Lol

Who knows? We'll never know what went down with him. But even the most ardent Tiger hater has to be convinced by now that TW is a good dude who made mistakes in life. To see the way he's beloved by his fellow players and how quick he is with a smile these days...it's great and I think it helps his golf. He's way more relaxed.

In the end, he always tried to hit it too hard with the driver and must have ignored statistics that will tell anyone, you're better off being 15 yards shorter and in the fairway than playing from all over the place.

In the past, he would go on tears where he had the timing down with the 130 mph swing and then long stretches where he couldn't find it. Or he had to hit a million balls to find it and if he didn't do that, he couldn't play.

When you swing as easy as he is now, its much, much easier to time the swing and hit straight. That's the evolution in his game, he's hitting it right down the middle every time and hitting 9 irons in, instead of gap wedges. Well, he's real accurate with nine irons too and avoiding all the trouble the other approach brought.

He has to stay healthy. He has to practice chipping and putting with the intensity of a guy that wants to keep their card. If that happens, he could win two majors this year. If either don't, well, at least we got the 2019 Masters.
