You sure you're not getting him mixed up with J. Edgar Hoover?

There is not a soul on this board who would defend RFK Jr. if he had been appointed by Joe Biden.
Question:

Where did I defend him? I merely mentioned a mentally ill man after that man’s replacement was brought up.

What’s really pathetic is the guy on the right is more qualified than RFK Jr. on paper.

RFK is 17ing retard.
FTFY. Our public health system is rotten. RFK is not a good choice, but he is somehow still better than a lot of better educated people because so much education comes with indoctrination.

But basically any literate adult that thinks (1) Being fat is worse than not, (2) genital mutilation is bad, regardless of what mental health issues a child (or more likely their parent) may have, (3) vaccines are generally good and have been a public health success story, (4) there are tradeoffs to any medical treatment or intervention that should be discussed openly and honestly would be vastly better than the options our politics and the public health bureaucracy give us.

But if you are the head of the HHS then you need to have at least a basic knowledge of medical science and healthcare which he does not. The guy is a lawyer who twists the wording of research into whatever type of bias that he has. It’s really pathetic.

Tell me about it. I probably lost points on a quiz one time for not listing Pluto as a planet and now I find out they were wrong all along! I may go back to my 3rd grade teacher and see if I can get the A I deserve...

Question:

How was my statement any different from your statement? Are you thus claiming to be one of the “moths”?
Because you saw a criticism of RFK as Sec of HHS and immediately bring up a dress worn by a dude that didn't even hold the same position as RFK in a whataboutism. Why? You can't help yourself because your programming isn't in facts but in emotional grievance. Change your handle.

In an ideal world, maybe. But you've described one of the past 7 HHS secretaries.

Kennedy - is not fat; managed to be the only Kennedy nepo that found something bad enough for other Kennedies to criticize (rape and murder may not make the list, but obviously that's nothing like supporting Trump)
Becerra - lawyer and politico
Alex Azar - Pharmaceutical exec and lawyer
Tom Price - an actual MD
Sylvia Mathews Burwell - a degree in "government" and one in philosophy, politics, and economics. politico/nonprofit world. Did at least do a stint at McKinsey, which at least is a better indicator of intelligence than working your way up through politics
Sebelius - political science - lobbyist/politico
Leavitt - insurance/risk and politico

Literally, my side says that this is what I should be outraged about and I know my side is beyond criticism and never wrong, therefore, here's something outrageous to me that I'm angry about. In my case, the mind that is all in on a political side simply cannot fathom the idea of critical thought leading a person into political homelessness...you HAVE to be on a side. Like someone in Alabama who can't understand anything other than Roll Tide vs Barner...

This is you just being stupid. He was the assistant secretary for health. That position historically has required more of a background in medicine/health than secretary of HHS. It's perfectly reasonable to point out the hypocrisy of people complaining about Kennedy filling what has historically been more of a political/management roll while having no problem with somebody with obvious mental health issues that impacts his medical opinions, particularly with respect to protecting minors.

So you got a problem with circumcision?

What about our Covenant with GOD ALMIGHTY?
I'm a little surprised your preference for uncircumcised penises is so strong that you consider circumcised ones mutilated. I don't know if I've met another man so passionate about the penis looks.

Also surprised that you are claiming to be jewish. Really odd combination to love uncircumcised penises but be jewish. A lot to unpack there.

Education and Clinical Training
  • Medical Degree: Graduated from the Tulane University School of Medicine in 1983.
  • Residency: Completed a comprehensive residency program in pediatrics at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City.
  • Fellowship: Specialized further by completing a postdoctoral fellowship in adolescent medicine at Mount Sinai.
I'd say that's a lot more qualified than RFK, even pre-brain worm eating part of his brain. If I gotta pick one of the two for healthcare policy, I know who I'm picking.

I do think that we should keep children (<18) from being allowed to make substantial life altering decisions with regards to elective surgery, particularly the kind that is permanent, etc. and that your concern is likely around whether a trans person would be more or less likely to support helping kids transition before that age. I suspect that most people who would be very vocal and supportive of that are not representative of the norm, but rather the fringe, however, I'm not aware of any data to support/refute that.

I suspect that the push back on Levine, in general, has a lot to do with the fact that it was objectively not an attractive transition (i.e. Tone Loc wouldn't have fallen for that). We are still vain people, despite the fact that we like to believe we are objective.

This is in no way a defense of RFK or whataboutism, but did you have the same strong opinion on his predecessor Becerra?

He seems like nothing but a typical lawyer/politician who checked the “I’m Latino” box for whoever was acting as Biden’s brain that week. If he had medical background I’m missing I apologize, my cursory review didn’t show it.

It’s all such a shitshow that all I know how to do is vote for whatever I find the least deranged or dangerous. I’m sure I get that wrong a lot. It feels pretty hopeless these days.

Then the POSTER I REPLIED TO would have criticized Xavier Becerra's performance and judgment instead of whiffing on his facts.

Feel free to make your RFK defense against prior counterparts if you feel compelled to defend RFK. But there's no need for you to white knight and shift his goal posts on his behalf. He can develop his own arguments and I can respond to those without you trying to change his argument for him.

Fact:

We all long for the days prior to RFK Jr when a mentally ill man had the position and wore dresses to work everyday pretending to be a woman.
Guy can't even get his positions straight and calls himself a fact checker.

If you can’t see that he is that terrible of an HHS secretary then you’re just a biased idiot lemming. I’m sorry you can write 500 paragraphs about it and I don’t give a flying 17. You’re like the reverse Glfr. Just because he’s appointed by Trump and that means he’s God’s gift to medicine. And I don’t give a flying 17 about what the media reports and doesn’t report. The left-leaning media is going to find every little thing that’s wrong and the right wing media won’t say anything because they’re scared that they’re gonna piss off Trump but there’s plenty of people in the medical profession who have years and years of experience who say he is not doing his job.

I would suggest that you go watch the video that I linked earlier in the thread and see what you think after that because the guy has so many flip-flops, manipulates data, can’t quote a statistic to save his life correctly or just makes up statistics.

Are you saying that federal government appointees (or hell, even electees) who have never had any training or real-world experience related to their new office should be scrutinized more thoroughly before they get into office and screw things up? You don't say.**

I wish we all would keep this in mind during the runup to the 2026 and 2028 elections, but I am certain we all won't.

Typically people in that kind of position who may not have a lot of experience usually have people surrounding them that have experience to help them guide them through policy or issues. He does not. All of his people around him are Kooks like he is. There is no body in that staff that surrounds him that knows what they’re doing. It’s wellness influencers running the asylum.

He's not a better choice than "a lot of better educated people". He's a privileged sh*theel who manipulated his way into an office he has no business being in, and consistently does damage to public health in America on purpose. The measles issue is all you have to consider to know that this guy sucks.

You always come back to this. You realize that politicians are just a reflection of the public right? And what you call "bureaucracy" are just regular people hired to do a job that was created by the politicians?

And you realize that the conservative side put this clown in this position, right?

I personally think these rational-minded folks in which you speak are the minority. The problem is that the rational-minded folks don't seem to have much influence over the public.

Bacerra didn’t burn the place to the ground either. I’m all for reforms and trying to fight chronic health issues but you can’t come in and burn the place to the ground and get rid of people with medical expertise just to bring in wellness influencers who have very strong “medical” opinions that go against modern medicine.

He was hired to be a disrupter - whether he knows it or not. Just like Elon. Not a change agent because change agents at least have plans for an end state. Disruptors just break **** for the sake of breaking them and pretend that it will create some kind of long term value. While that may work in authoritarian systems with generational leadership and time on your side, we have a republic that changes hands frequently. Disrupters just get fired and the next crew has to clean up the mess left for them. Basically the theme for this entire admin.
